I loved This is England 1983, and was hooked from the first 5 minutes.
Desperately want to see the crew back in action.
Have written a draft script for This is England 2000.
This is england 2000 script:
News back drop,
Cultural and music back drop,
Government back drop of the day.
Story:
Start with dog being walked on deserted industry estate going mad, won't go back to owner, congealed blood run under door of lift shaft, dog walker shines torch, half dead Combo in lift shaft, leg part severed goes to hospital, just survives, looses right leg and one eye.
LOL suspicious spreads rumour its Milky who is responsible, police get to hear, Milky arrested and splits on Lol, she goes down for manslaughter of her dad too. Woody devasted..gets custody of both kids, starts working again at engineering firm taking a production line job, frustrated used to be foreman now just an operative.
Woodys old girlfriend who lives with his mum and dad becomes child minder for Woody, they grow close again, awkward moments but woody resists. LOL and Milkys child gets progressively ill-lukiemia -finally diagnosed, lots of treatment, getting sicker and sicker.
Terry steps up to plate, visiting the children and Milky and Lol inside.
Lol's sister has sad drug addiction heroine problems-chucked out of home, becomes prostitute to feed habit, no one sees her anymore, Gadget down on luck gets back with Trudy who gets fit loosing weight running aerobics classes at the village hall she manages. Trudy pops question and Gadget says yes. Meggy buddies up with Trudy's son (his actually child which he doesn't know about-both sharing same mannerisms).
Gadget has stag do in Amsterdam and Woody and gang buy him a go in brothel and he unexpectedly meets lol's sister, still loves her, freaks out, sets off fire alarms, grabs iron bar and half kills pimp, Harvey and the gang fight their way out, rescue her, then smuggles her back into UK and gets her rehab.
Big bust up with Trudy wedding cancelled.
Woodys old girlfriend gets closer, offering self to woody who misses lol, but resists.
Shaun gets work for local press, doing well, mum has an unexpected baby with Indian guy from shop, thought she was going through menopause but she is actually pregnant, Shaun disgusted leaves home, moving in with his hot girlfriend from photo course.
Smell gives up on men after being blown out by Shaun and has lesbian love affair with lol's mum's partners daughter....who was on her art course. Smell exhibits work, now a celebrated English modern artist, bumps into Shaun at art exhibition he covers for paper he is working for, in London. Still love each other, go for drinks after event and end up in bed.
LOL has tough time inside and challenges to be top dog in prison, and wins big fight, but gets boiling water chucked over her in kitchen burning arm and splashing side of face next day.
Milky gets in trouble supplying drugs inside, plus bullied by rascist in mates, befriended by dentist , Geoff, who got caught cooking the books ,and plays trumpet with Bad Manner's ska band with buster bloodvessell, lots in common with Milky who grew up loving ska and is part Jamaican, gets Milky to attend workshop prison education scheme.
Prison engineering workshop run by retired engineer George who loves scooters, teaches milky engineering basics, and let's him work on George's prized lambretta scooter rebuild project. Milky does well, passes city and guilds in mechanical engineering. Learns all about scooter engine and electrics and painting from George. Father figure/best buddies.
Woody needs more cash to have good job for Lol when she comes out (having tough time inside), old girlfriend sees Engineer Surveyor job advertised in newspaper, working from home carrying lots of responsibility and lots more money, gets job, moves house, pays ex as house keeper and child minder but plagued with guilt over Combo, who did time for him and Lol.
Combo in wheelchair now quite disabled, but repentant for his past crimes and forgives Milky. Woody feels bad for whole scenario and wants to do something. Milky and Lol's child critically ill. Need bone marrow transplant. Secretly, Combo gives a bone marrow sample and is found to be a match. Child lives, Milky and Lol elated.
LOL reforms and studies in prison to gets book keeping exams for better job when she comes out.
Milkys and lol's release dates same week.
Milky loving his scooters again.
Milky comes out, gets lotto ticket and wins £50000 and buys derelict old shop with flat above it, decides to open scooter shop with new found skills from George. George keeps in touch and gives Milky the lambretta he rebuilt to be his first bike to put in his showroom.
Smell and Shaun get caught shagging by partners and get back together.
Gadget gets with lol's sister who he rescued and nurtured in conjunction with Terry, and comes out of rehab. Plan engagement.
Woody doing well, and been looking after Combo. Has self contained annexe built on house for Combo, tries to arrange big party in village hall with Manageress Truly, to celebrate the lags' release from prison, but electrical fault after heavy rain burns down hard work over night. Woody gutted.
Woody woken early next day, beautiful dry and sunny, by stream of scooter going past, rings Shaun, big skinhead scooter reunion 20 miles away, rounds up the the old gang including Harvey, shave some heads, dress up in their old skinhead gear and go there where Bad Manners are head lining, playing My Girl Lollipop (camera pans to the lovely LOL).
The old gang are back together again!!!
