The song that plays at the beginning of the film is Smog - Vessel In Vain.

Just had to chip in and say that the music picked for DMS was amazingly good. Everything was there for a reason and no filler crap, it makes me wonder how much music he had to listen to to get there, i bet he has a huge cd collection. The intro music (vessel in vain)and the grainy home video invoked feelings i never knew i had. Also adem and statued was spot on for that scene in the citroen cv. I think the music is partly why i can keep watching this film again and again, it's gotta be over twenty times so far, i think i'm bordering on the obsessive compulsive side of things. What ever you do shane don't let me find out your address!, i'll be camping out on your lawn before you know it.

I listened to hundreds of cd's during the making of DMS. Vessell in Vain was picked and put into the edit during the first week of the shoot. It never changed.

Just have to say that for me the soundtrack is probably one of the best I've heard in years. All the artists on it were completely unknown to me (with the exception of Aphex Twin). An absolutely blinding selection of songs that totally purvey the mood of the film, part of DMS's rewatch value (for me) is certainly the soundtrack.

Just got the 24/7 soundtrack for 35 pence! of Amazon marketplace. Still a bit reluctant to buy the Romeo Brass soundtrack as it's 22.80 at the moment. On another note i've had the Room For Romeo screenplay on order for three month's on Amazon and they still haven't delivered even though it say's they've got one in stock!!
