It was a Citroen 2CV not a Renault. Opps, sorry, i knew that it was a french car but more accurately it looks like a bad boating accident run in with something from the 1930's. I'm sure performance wise its okay. unlike the american barges that help to pollute the world.

Ok being Canadian might not be a big help here an all, but as fer us lot up ova the states, there wasn't a big hoopla about DMS... as a matter of fact I didn't even know it existed till my hubby told me about TIE (an after i watched that brilliant film I jus had to see more of Shane's work) ;D I recently jus watched both DMS an OUATITM an I enjoyed both (although the latter was a bit slow paced but all in all still a good film) Although there's not much call for International films around here (or there hard to find showing in a cinema or available fer rent) I find that ppl round here are rather closed minded bout films an would rather pay $12 to go see Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson an so on jus of cause their "Hollywood's hottest" rather than go see a film with less known actors but a wicked storyline As for me, I don't care who the actors in a movie are, I'm more interested in the actual story line than seeing the "IN" actor(s)... Actors can only take the movie so far, by there's gotta be a good story behind it to make it great and I find Shane always gives both... Wow... I think I went on a iccle rant there... sorry bout that y'all, to get back to the point of this fer all teh ppl that I've spoken to an referred all of shane's work too (an not jus DMS) have all come back wif positive things to say about him and his movie, so hopefully we'll see TIE hit theaters here (seeing as there's nothin yet round my area bout it so far) as well as maybe start being able to get Shane's movies easier round here... would really love to see ARFRB an 24/7

I was completly enraged reading shit like; "The film is filled with deeply unpleasant and stupid people whose vapid speech is largely incomprehensible due to thick regional accents" "unfortunately, the absence of emotionally engaging characters, combined with the cast's thick, unintelligible accents, undermines what could have been a taut and provocative exploration on the moral price of vengeance." THE ABSENCE OF EMOTIONALLY ENGAGING CHARACTERS!!! I felt empathy for every character, although you did want Richard to get his revenge you couldnt help but feel terrified for the other blokes, uk.rottentomatoes.com/m/dead_mans_shoes/after reading these reviews I felt like purchasing a plane ticket and a gas mask but this is englands got 93% so far I'd love to hear what the yanks have to say about it, I still havent managed to see it at the cinema! gotta wait till august up here in Cumbria!

it always annoys me reading american reviews which cite regional british accents as a negative trait of a film.....why is that we can understand thick american accents but they can't do likewise...? it's as if the only british accent they can relate to is the caricature 'apples and pears' cock-er-ney accent....(see don cheadle in ocean's eleven.....)

In fairness to them. we hear theirs all the time, but they very rarely hear ours (and when they do, it tends to either be posh or cockney).

Except they'd pay in pound sterling.

I know this thread is about the American response to DMS, but it's unfair to single the American cinema-goer out as a clueless lemming. Check the UK top ten any week of the year and you'll find the same old ass gravy as you would in those united states.
