at the end of Dead Man's Shoes. Excellent scene as the story of what had been done to Anthony unfolded through the character at the end telling his wife. I've noticed that the female actor is also in This is England. Although her face was really expressive and the acting excellent in DMS I think that she could have wore a better cut of jeans though. Unless this was supposed to be fitting with the time.

Funnily enough I never noticed her jeans as I was deeply wrapped in the story?!

I'm sure Jill replied to this thread before.. now her reply has gone!
Carolyn, did you know that Jo Hartley (the actress in question) visits the forum quite often? You may get a reply. I can't say I noticed the jeans either. haha

Thanks Dave. I hope that Jo Hartley stumbles across the compliment. Have to admit though the acting of the bloke at the end can't be ignored either. His face as he was saying "I could have stopped it" was amazing two. Outstanding acting, in my opinion. I noticed that Jo Hartley was the boy's mother in This is England as well. Again, amazing acting, amazing attire.

Whats wrong with the jeans then? too short too long, too tight, too big?
Seriously...... does it really matter?
It's like the scene when Combo and Milky come together and saying look at the wallpaper over there.

Michael,
I think she's absolutely brilliant. I will watch out for her in the future. I have searched on Jo Hartley on the internet and found that she has done Dead Man's Shoes and This is England. Do you know of anything else.

Another bit I like that Jo Hartley delivers is the line where she is sat on the stairs when her husband comes through the door and she says that Richard had been to the house. It was the pause that she put in the delivery that I thought made the line so good. I'm on about:-
"After you had gone" [pause] "he came"
Just brilliant.

on the subject of wallpaper (that was the subject wasn't it) (and it wasn't me who noticed this i read it in a review) it is interesting that the wallpaper in shaun's bedroom at the start of TIE has been systematically picked at... its wonderful the way this element of the mis-en-scene perfectly depicts a young childs boredom- i used to do it as a kid ... wonder if it was intentional?.. me thinks so Jo is a great actress and a lovely lady and i'm sure the jeans were not a mistake but a result of weeks of preperation also

I noticed the ripped wallpaper in Shaun's bedroom. I thought it set the scene well.
