just had to start a thread about this short, simply because i would go as far as saying this is my favourite one of shane's shorts i have seen yet.
the acting is superb, both from paddy, and shane behind camera. it was very very funny! lines like "i don't have a name, i don't have an identity" (probably not word for word correct) lol and just genuinly funny bits. then its slowly revealed that this guy is a fake, and by the time its the end, i felt so sorry for the guy, he had tried so hard, nearly made me cry! but a film that can make me laugh and cry is always awesme in my books, so yes, this is my favourite shane meadows short film.
what did you guys think of it?

It's my fave of all Shane's shorts too, although his bermuda ones are nice. I keep trying to come up with ideas for a film that only needs one infrontofcamera actor, and they all seem to rip off "The Man With No Name" to some degree. It is superb. "The spring rabbits don't judge me."

"The spring rabbits don't judge me."
lol!
i love it so much simply because i love the character paddy plays, i felt so sorry for him, desperately seeking attention like that. and the lines paddy came up with (i assume it was improvised) were absolutely genius, even shane's questioning behind camera. i've ever seen a short that has made me as emotional as this one did. shane, you legend, this film RULES!

Probably my favourite on Shanes World too...Stand out line for me is...
"I never said '30 years'!....So there ya are!"
Cue Shane trying not to laugh, great stuff.

We had such a great crack making that film. I also did a couple of Mocumentrys of Paddy playing that charactor that were never really finished beyond the rough cut stage. They were made just after Romeo Brass and Charted the Character in a fly on the wall style as he drives round burton being a complete arse to old mates, trying to get into bands and trying to force a student to take a picture of his heavily piled arsecrack for a lawsuit against a major corporation who fed him Frankenstein Foods!

I have just unearthed the two films from the dusty vault and on watching them back, they weren't quite as rough as I remembered. I got so into them on watching them back, that I loaded them back into my computer and did a little polish and re-edit then burnt them onto DVD. So thanks for the post as it has re-ignited my own love for this character. I will show them to Paddy again and see if we can't finally find a decent home for 'Le Donk' - Maybe a film, A one off TV special or a whole series, but on watching the two films back we have to do something as Paddy really is amazing as that guy!

I love all those 'Shane Shorts' Paddy is amazing as 'TMWNN' (shortened like prince!) Love Le Donk but theres not enough of him. I really need to see these old shorts of yours Shane, been itching for more since the "...Midlands" DVD extras. I also like that line: "I never said '30 years'!....So there ya are!" and So that's spooky intit bud?

I'm a touch confused (for a change)...
Is Shane's message impying that the 'man with no name' is Le Donk? I never thought that. It seems especially weird as the 'man with no name' is not who he seems.

I saw these shorts a year or so back when they were up on either bbc or C4´s website. Absolutely hilarious...apart from the pitch groundskeeper one which i found quite touching. Anywhere we can watch them today? links?

Anywhere we can watch them today? links? Film four used to have Shane's World on their website with all the shorts available for viewing: www.channel4.com/film/makingmovies/microsites/S/shanes_world/shaneWorld_homepage.jspHasn't worked for ages now though. Annoying.
