Me and Gav have got down to shooting the Docco this last couple of weeks and It's going really well. We have a few more days to do before his first solo gig (in his living room) a week on saturday then I'll hopefully get it cut together by the end of febuary. We'l probably have a secret screening somewhere amongst the 'This is England' press tour, so I'll keep you all posted.

Do you just shoot it on dv shane? If so what are you using, just made a short with canon xl1's and been an absolute nightmare grading images to make them appear better than they are.

I'm Shooting on a Canon XH-A1. It is one of the new High Definition camcorders and it's the first time I've ever shot on HDV so the step up in quality from Standard DV is pretty mindblowing!
For the money (best price about £2200) these really are pretty hard to beat. I had a very good look around before shooting this Docco and plumped for this one as it is very good in lowlight and has some great overide features for creating a film look in camera, which should reduce time grading in post production.
It's fairly weighty, but if you are used to the Xl camera's, this will seem pretty compact. Check out HDVinfo.com user forums, most cameras have been tried and tested there by people who are using them everyday of the week and they don't pull any punches if a camera isn't up to the job!

Thank you very much, we've done a load of tests in post and my dop came up with a way of double layering image and either interlacing or de-interlacing (excuse the fact that technically i am a loser) the image and shifting one of the layers up a field on screen, somehow it has made the image look a helluva a lot more expensive than it actually is, and has got rid of the pixelation that comes with rapid camera movement(and he received a nice bottle of whiskey for his services). We were going to shoot on hd but couldn't cover the costs, so he managed to blag a load of equipment from the uni he works at, which was nice!!!
Hopefully should be complete by mid feb and i will be posting where it can be screened upon this quality site. Cheers again!!!

Can't wait to see it. Saw Clayhill last year in York, the day my team got beat in the Championship play-off final, and I was still floating on those songs to such an extent that I wasn't that bothered. A year on and we're a 15 goal win over Derby away from being relegated. Don't suppose Gavin's free this weekend? I've got an old pub piano and some decent biscuits....
