Hello there, I'm Chris and I'm hoping to eventually make it somewhere in the film industry, in the scriptwriting department ideally.
Anyway I've made a few short films with a good mate of mine, Si Pearce (also a very good camera operator/director). One of which was the winner of BBC Blast film making competition and was shown on BBC 2 (at 4am ). To be fair the competiton wasn't that strong! You can see the film here, its called 'I':

It was good for a first attempt, but now we've moved on in leaps and bounds, I've recently wrapped on Si's latest film 'Graveyard Shift' which just needs a few finishing touches. For this one i stayed in front of the camera as the main character - but i have to say the writing, directing and supporting acting of Si was great.
Check our site: www.cba-productions.co.uk for details of the film and others.
Now, to the point. I came up with a great idea for a film, an ambitious one. I'm talking feature length.
It involved a revenge/redemption plot.
About a boy soldier named Shaun, who has returned from Iraq - badly wounded from a friendly fire incident forcing him out of the army forever. He's reclused into an alcoholic shell spending all his compensation money on booze and seriously considering topping himself.
He can't face his loved ones and ignores the phone calls from his best friend. This turns out to be a mistake.
The mate he left behind is in trouble with a gang of young wannabe gangsters, namely the leader who is the son of a small time crimeboss. Shaun receives a message from his friend; Tom, that these people must pay for what they have done.
But Shaun is too late and Tom is murdered. With his sense of duty and institutionalised mind Shaun see's it as his mission to take out all who were involved. But why? What did they do to Tom to make him so enraged. Shaun returns to the bleak inner cities of Bristol where he grew up to dish out his own form of justice only to be hindered by Tom's sister; Kelly. She doesn't agree with Shaun's violent methods but she takes him in anyway and they develope a very love/hate relationship. That's when he discovers why Tom was forced into action against the gang and the eventual retaliation. They raped her. And this is only gonna make Shaun more thirsty for their blood.
Things are further complicated when Shaun developes a friendship with the gang leaders mentally handicapped and innocent brother. Making him torn between his mission and his desire to be a good person.
... good eh? Sound familiar though?
THEN I SAW DEAD MANS SHOES and realised the striking similarities and that i'd never be able to top a film that good. It's forced me to change/improve the script and generally raise my game. Dead Man's Shoes restored my faith in the British film industry and left me with that strangely great feeling of "fuck, i wish i thought of that!"
Damn you Shane Meadows for making such a bloody brilliant film!
Anyway I'm gonna keep posting here and read and get inspired cos I wanna give people films from the UK as good as DMS in the future.
Cheers - go on have a look at the film and site, you know you want to!
