Anyone else seen this yet? I went to it a week or two back... I liked it quite a lot. At times it was laughably bad, but overall very nice. It's got a weird feel to it. Descriptions say it's like a "British Fight Club", but at the same time it's definitely made with an American audience in mind - there's explanations about rhyming slang and soccer/football, among other things. Charlie Hunnam's Cockney accent is awful, but his performance is pretty great. The fight scenes are well done, too.
It's worth a watch, I'd say.

hmm looks bad, particually because of this: "it's definitely made with an American audience in mind" which i knew it would be, it has to be to make money. i doubt its very realistic. but it could be good, i kinda like the gortty style of the film (from what i've see of the trailers) I probably wont go see it. what does anyone else think? that has/hasn't seen it?

I was of two minds whether or not to see it, but I'm glad I did. If you can put aside all the annoying things about it, it's decent. Just really flawed. If I had to describe it, I'd call it a Hollywood-ized "Football Factory" - it even shares a "jealous second-in-command" story thread.

Is this the one with little Hobbit fella, Elijah Wood in it?
Looked interesting from clips I have seen, and I probably wouldn't mind a watch.. but I doubt I will bother with it at the cinema.
How does Mr Wood fair in it anyway? I hear he plays an American anyway, so no worries with dodgy cockney accents where he is concerned... but can he do a hard nut?

He's not utterly convincing, no. The character goes from nerdy, scared student to wild hardman in seconds... And Wood's performance doesn't really change much. It's not awful, don't get me wrong, it's pretty good. But there's something about Elijah Wood... He just seems weird. Like the Children of the Corn, or Damien. It is a film that's far from unmissable, actually, but I've been going to the cinema loads lately - I'm worried that I'm missing out by not seeing them on the big screen. I found out last week that the university's film theatre screened DMS a while back, and I'm pretty gutted I've missed my chance with that.

Truly awful stuff, I thought! After watching the Football Factory I didn't think it possible that a worse film about football violence could be made........it was.
If you've partaken in the Casual side of Football they're both wide of the mark and miss the point.
I'd one day like to make one to shit on the rest. It's all about fine details and the cultures etc. etc.
Still think although both poor ID and the Firm (in particular) are way better, although inaccurate.
