Chris Morris was in the audience on one edition of The Time The Place hosted by John Stapleton (not Kilroy as I said before). The day's discussion was "Are British Men Lousy Lovers?", and Morris was posing as an academic called Thurston Lowe. Morris is rumbled in the second half of the programme though as someone on the production team works out who he is and lets John Stapleton know via his earpiece.
There used to be a site that had the video clip to watch.. but I can't find it now! Shame.. it's pretty funny. It was done before Brass Eye was screened, so was possibly going to be used in it if it went more according to plan (although that doesn't usually stop old Morris, as he uses many editing tricks to make people look more stupid than they are.... some don't need the help though!).

I think there's been some decent TV comedies but not a lot of decent dramas.
Our Friends In The North stands out as one of the best dramas on TV and was completely different to anything done at the time. That was thoroughly enjoyable.

Good to see some other Morris fans on here! Think he's definitely come off the boil lately (like Dave says, roundabout the time Jam come on to telly). It's like he's run out of ideas and is now obsessed with making up phrases that sound "Morris", like twit-box, shoe-wire etc, rather than coming up with any new ideas. Nathan Barley was a bit pony and went down like a one-legged tapdancer with most of the fans. Though Channel 4 are repeating it every night this week if you want to draw your own conclusion. I think you can watch the infamous The Time The Place clip on www.cookdandbombd.co.uk which is a wicked Morris resource site. I was a regular there a few years ago but be warned, the forums are infested with thumb-twiddling chin-strokers who argue the toss over everything from soup to nuts, and may or may not be 'idiots' Top five UK TV: Bottom Brass Eye Red Dwarf (minus series 7 and 8) The Lakes 15 Storeys High (criminally neglected, if you like Spaced/Black Books you'll love this) Plus gotta give the most underrated comedy thinker in the country a shout - Armando Iannucci. And of course, not forgetting the almighty Partridge. Along with Bottom I've probably got all the lines from that memorised too. Quality writing, not sad. Honest 'That.... is dignity'

loving british comedy at the moment.
the mighty boosh is simply the best thing around. nothing makes me feel happier than when watching this on dvd.
i'm more of a catch up with on dvd man than actually watching on tv myself. with this i can slot shows in my busy schedule.
saw a preview of a new comedy from the makers of darkplace called deano after dark. they performed it in front of an audience and it promises to be very funny. catch it on channel four next year

Fans of Chris Morris should try and seek out his collaboration with Peter Cook, 'Why Bother..?' from 1994, recorded just before Cook's death. It's a work of genius in six parts that fits nicely onto a single CD and has accompanied me on many a midnight car journey and CRIKEY IS IT FUNNY!!! Thay were planning to continue working together but Cook's untimely demise put an end to that. Imho it was this stint with Cook that sharpened Morris' writing skills and dared him to take more risks by venturing into ever more surreal territory. You used to be able to get it at www.cookedandbombed.co.uk but I can't help you much at the mo as it is bedtime in Mexborough. Well, everyone else seems to be asleep anyway.

Did you see the 'Spaced' boys have got their cop comedy greenlit? 'Hot Fuzz'. No matter how you feel about them, people like Chris Morris should be comended for trying to pull British TV up. And although we don't have the money the U.S has, we're the grass roots of it all - the office in America? Hello - no slough? where was it set? New York? And I don't know if anyone remembers something called 'ultraviolet' (with that guy who does the mastercard ads- Brit- Jack Davenport), but 'Blade 3's director is 're-imagining' it (read-ripping off)

Ultraviolet - there's a blast from the past. That was a wicked programme, and Jack Davenport was on top form after his stint on This Life. Hollywood? Doing a remake? Surely not! Hot Fuzz looks good - not sure if Edgar Wright is involved - but it'll have to work hard to match Shaun Of The Dead. At least it'll give Nick Frost and Jess Stephenson the chance to purge themselves of Man Stroke Woman and According To Bex. What I want to know is.... when's The Armstrong And Miller Show coming to DVD? Or did I just imagine it??
