I have to admit I had never heard of Shane or any of his movies before stumbling across a trailer of Dead Man's Shoes on the net. This was around Christmas time and the film had finished it's run at the cinema and i could find no details of a DVD release. A friend of mine manged to obtain a screener copy of it from the usual sources and I have since bought both DMS and 'A room for Romeo Brass' as a result. Given the sorry state of distribution of our own films in this country it would be interesting to hear peoples opinions on the morality of this (especially Shanes). When in all probabality the film would probably have completely passed me by otherwise.

I much prefer obtaining films via the legal ways. It can be tempting to grab a film illegally so you don't have to wait months for the DVD or even if you can't get the film. With the proper DVD you are guaranteed the best quality and the money the film makers lose out because of illegal copies is totally unfair.

Yes I agree totally, but given the fact you'd be hard pressed to find many of Shane's earlier films at Blockbuster or in the high street retailers it does give you the opportunity to try before you buy. Having said that I'm confident all Shane's movies are great after seeing DSM and ARFRB. Since seeing DSM I've lent it to quite a few friends who have since gone out and purchased it themselves so personally I think that in the case of small underground movies such as Shane's it can have a very positive effect.

Yeah I see what you're saying. But i've found all Shanes films bar 24/7 in highstreet stores, I mean I bought DMS from W H Smiths!
