Hey Liam,
I'm currently studying Media Production at the Universty Of Lincoln. Its really good!
I was orginaly at Hull studying TV and Film Design which was awful, Not only was I staying in one of the worst places on earth but a shit course too! We didn't have real lectuers, teh lectueres didn't know what they were talking about! (e.g. Whats Dogme?) So I transfered to Lincoln.
Here we have real lectueres! ha ha! Proper seminars the lot. Theres also TV Studios and AVID edit suites which are industry standard (eg. Star Wars etc.) and also have a programme called FrontPage which helps alot with Screenwriting.
The top ones are places like The Arts Instute of Surrey, Bourenmouth and London, but tend to be quite hard to get into.
If you want any more info I'll see If i can help.
Si

It depends on what you're doing and where. Without extensive research, it's pretty much luck of the draw. I do Film Studies at Stoke-on-Trent and it's largely useless. There's a Media Production degree here, and a Television Production one or something like that, but they are both actually about web programming (at least for the first year).
The plus side is, to make it in the film industry - especially as a director/writer/actor - there are no academic qualifications that will get you those jobs (imagine ringing FilmFour and saying "Hey up mate, I've just got a 2:1, can I have a couple of mill to make a romcom starring him out of Little Britain? It's mint, that program, intit?") and you can only make it on your own steam and talent. And wherever you end up, as long as you have a camera (student loan!) and initiative, you can come out of it three years later with something to show for it. The piece of paper itself is probably best used in bog-roll emergencies, but the experience gained over that time is invaluable. Even as bad as this place is, the library is very good and the hours are short.
And whichever university you end up at, legend, everyone is going to say your name all the time. University would be alright if it wasn't for the students.
