Watched SERIES 7: The Contenders last night cracking reality TV spoof that should appeal to fans of stuff like The Day Today and Brass Eye. Thats really weird I bought that on friday and watched it the other day. It was one of those i'd always seen and been curious about, it was only £6 so i thought why the hell not. Very good though did enjoy it.

saw good nite, good luck and was slightly underwhelmed, tho I had really high expectations, twas kind of expecting it to be a bit more epic or attempting to be engageing, still tho would defo recomend it. Anyone else see Clooneys interview on Newsnight, I was drunk and can barely remember but there were some things he was saying towards the end that made him a bit of a hero...fuck knows what he said...someone back me up

Infernal Affairs is cracking movie theres a remake on the way directed by Martin Scorsese with Leonardo Di Caprio and Matt Damon taking the lead roles.
Last film I saw "The Wicker Man" a freebie with the Guardian this weekend, never seen it before and it certainly lived up to the hype I've seen about it recently. Although I must say I thought I was watching a musical the first half hour.

Please come, say how do!
Last film I watched was Romeo Brass on Sunday. Last film I watched for the first time was Waiting... I enjoyed it. It hasn't been released here, but it's basically Clerks/Empire Records in a chain restaurant. Ryan Reynolds is incredibly good in it.

I watched Once Upon A Time In The Midlands for the second time over the weekend – thought my girlfriend might like it (she did). I thoroughly enjoyed the film first time around but upon second viewing, you really buy into the characters. Shane, I know this film has its critics but I love it, mate. I mentioned in the OUTIM thread how much I love spaghetti westerns (you’d never know looking at my username, would you) and I admire this film for having references to them – I wish there was a commentary on OUTIM, for this reason alone – don’t ‘spose you could dub one on an E90, could ya? ;D Was off work ill yesterday, so I took it as an opportunity to lie in bed and catch up on some viewing. Watched North Country - the Charlize Theron film where she's stars as a mine worker that suffers sexual harrassment - very good and the performances are excellent all round - the film co-stars Sissy Spacek, Frances Mc Dormand, Sean Bean and Woody Harrelson. Next up was the first half of the Luciano Ercoli box set, Death Walks On High Heels - saw this on the big screen back at the CineXS in '99 - that print was cut, so watching the new uncut disc from NoShame was something of a revelation - quite nasty in places, though the body count is quite low by giallo standards. Followed this with Enzo G Castellari's excellent 'guys on a mission' flick, Inglorious Bastards. This was my first viewing - this is great stuff. A very enjoyable film with likeable characters and an infectious score. The film stars Bo Svenson and Fred Williamson. Next up was Race With The Devil... Great stuff. Never seen it before - you can always depend on Warren Oates. Oates and Peter Fonda take their wives for a romantic trip to the countryside in their Winnebago. However the things go a little pear-shapes when they witness a dark cult killing a nubile young lady during a satanic mass. The group high-tail it away but begin to believe there may be a larger conspiracy when the local police seem less than co-operative… I capped off the evening with Sergio Martino’s excellent Your Vice Is A Locked Room & Only I Have The Key – yep, it’s a dodgy, cringe-worthy title (bettered only by Martino’s later The Body Showed Evidence Of Carnal Violence) but this is a solid slice of Euro Cult madness that owes more than a little to Edgar Allan Poe’s Black Cat. It also stars two of the loveliest Eurobabes – Edwige Fennech and Anita Strindberg.

Saw Lucky Number Sleven[/i] today it is sure a little slick for it own good and overdoes the visuals but if you stick with it, it is a solid film, Josh Hartnett is actually very good and Lucy Liu looks really good. For all male non Asian women fans theres a white woman with her clothes off...if you like that sort of thing he he
Plenty of twists and nice playing with the narrative not as straight forward Hollywood and conventional as I was expecting I'd give it a 3.5/5

Saw Cannibal Apocolypse yesterday. Not a patch on Cannibal Holocaust, that evil shit still haunts me 6 months on. Both banned back in the day, Holocaust still should be! I got the Rare remastered edition (only 2000 copies) of holocaust , If your gonna disturb yourself for the forseeable future, you may as well do it in style

You got to admit though - John Saxon is cool in just about everything. I always thought he would have made a great James Bond. I haven't seen Cannibal Apocalypse for twenty years but I've never forgot the shot where they shoot the bloke through the chest and then the camera tracks up to show you through the smoking hole. Copied MANY times since.
Today I watched a VHSrip of 'Elvis In Jarrow' followed by 'Dougal and the Blue Cat' (the greatest allegory since 'Animal Farm'), a video I made to a Lou Reed track whilst at Salford Uni in 1992 (which was shown at the Cornerhouse incidentally) and, finally, the first episode of 'Robert's Robots' (ITV, 1974) which I managed to glean from UKNova last week. Freaked me out good and proper.

Just like to add that Cannibal Apocalypse brings back lots of memories for me. When I was 13 (in 1982) I got my first 'saturday job' in my local video library and CA was one of the most rented under-counter video nasties we had.
My personal faves were 'Nightmares in a Damaged Brain' (for the cover alone), 'The Beyond' and, of course, 'Dawn of the Dead'. Anyone here seen 'The Deadly Spawn'..? I married my wife purely for her love of that low-budget (and I really do mean LOW) classic. It's up there with 'Duel' and 'Evil Dead II for me lol.

Just watched Hostel the new file (freudian slip) err film from Eli Roth (and produced by Quentin Tarantino) who made Cabin Fever which was incidentally pretty shite. On first impressions this is a big improvement, if you do intend on seeing this the less you know the better and be prepared for some extreme gore towards the end and plenty of nudity at the beginning (never a bad thing).
7/10 for me

You can't top Holocaust, it's about as nasty as they come. I saw it once, 12+ years ago, now and still have memories of how disturbing it was. I don't know what it is about the banned flicks that's so compulsive - you find yourself seeking them out to see if you can endure them. Fulci's New York Ripper's a bit naughty but it's not without it's comic value - the killer talks like Donald Duck! Cannibal Apocalypse on the other hand is a fun action flick - John "Mr Roeper" Saxon is great as always and there's a great shot through the exit wound of some fella's stomach, too ;D

I've always loved all manner of horror and gore fests... but I still have yet to even touch Cannibal Holocaust with a barge pole!
I mean.... the film had criminal investigations into whether it was a 'snuff' film... even though it wasn't. But anything that could prompt such enquiries isn't something I'm keen to see. Plus it has real animal evisceration in it, which I will never want to see. I maybe wrong on that, but I'm sure I've read it somewhere.
