What is going on? Crash, best film! I think not! It's a right ham-fisted load of unsubtle stories, full of badly crow-barred in plot devices. Well that's what I thought! haha
Hooray for Wallace and Gromit I say!

I thought Crash was an excellent showcase for great performances but little more. The films relies on the audience to suspend their disbelieve as there are just way too many coincidences – I think Munich should have gotten the Best Picture gong and director for that matter, too. Spielberg has really gone against expectation and delivered a raw film bereft of his trademark sentimentality.
I’ve not seen neither Brokeback Mountain nor Goodnight & Good Luck (though I’ve just got the R1 DVD of the latter and will probably watch it tonight), so it would be unfair for me to hail Munich as the film of the year. However in comparison to the films that have won the big awards in past couple of years, Munich is a much better film.
It was nice to see Philip Seymour Hoffman finally get some recognition, but again, I’ve not seen Capote.

i gave up on the oscars ages ago when did they ever get it right, dances of wolves better than goodfellas? is forrest gump better than pulp fiction? i think not. i like it when a film or person i like wins one but only because it means the people involved will make more money and so will be allowed to keep making the movies that i like them for, but i'm chuffed for george clooney i think he's a good actor and the kind of director i like, interested in stories not special effects and compenero is right phillip seymour hoffman is amazing especially in boogie nights

Would have been nice if Walk The Line had got a bit more recognition, can't understand why it wasn't nominated for Best Picture and Best Director, after all it took nearly a decade to finally get a studion to make it and James Mangold the director did an excellent job IMO. One of the films of the year IMO

One of the films of the year IMO for me, Walk The Line was all about the music and performances - if you take them away, you're left with a very formulaic biopic. There have been so many biopics now, I suppose it's hard to do something that's going to seem fresh and original.
