Yea JT Survivour is a cracker, can't see it being turned in to a film anytime soon though eh? Compulsion is still in my too read pile, i've got sidetracked of late re-reading some Clive Barker, The Damnation Game is excellent for a first novel, but his best work is still Weaveworld IMO. Just started Imajica a weighty tome and no mistake.

Imajica is my fav barker book and has been for years. Your right it is abit of a handful but it is crying out to be made into a film i think. I loved the whole take on religion and the monsters and shit.

Clive has sadly gone hollywood and a bit shit, however, Imajica and Weaveworld are both great, my personal fave is Books of Blood tho(vols 1-6 i think), where the original Candyman stories from, thats some scary shit....

The Wasp Factory is one of my favourite books of all time. More dark and twisty than the London Underground Craig Clevenger, author of The Contortionist's Handbook (described by Chuck Palahniuk as the best book he's read in ten years) has just releases his second novel called Dermaphoria. I've just finished reading it and it's friggin' marvellous - imagine a cross between Pi, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas and Memento, but still very original in its own right. Really worth a read if you like your fiction to be both down-to-earth and highly mind-boggling. Clevenger has got a very cinematic style of writing that works really well, and his plots put most Hollywood screenwriters to shame. Anyway, if you go to www.myspace.com/_dermaphoria and add him, then put him in your Top 8 and send him a message with your address, the author himself will post you a free copy of the book! How cool is that. There's only 150 available and I think he's already shifted nigh on a ton. Offer must end soon!

Yeah, I got in there sharpish. It's a really good book and I'd gladly fork out cash for it, so to get it for free is a real bonus. I started reading it again as soon as I finished it, just to make sure I never missed anything out the first time round!

Nice, it sounds like a great book. Also, did you know Ian Banks (author of The Wasp Factory, my copy arrived today) lives in Fife same as me? My mates grandparents know his grandparents and has his book signed so I'm gonna try and get mine done if the oppurtunty arises.

That's pretty cool. A signed copy of The Wasp Factory would be wicked! I'm sure it'd go for a bundle on eBay There's been a film version of TWF doing the rounds on the rumour circuit for ages now, but personally I can't see it happening. Very tricky book to film.

I think the covers great (mines just plain black ) but I know there's one with like a feild, I'll edit it into this post, I think it could have some cool shots in it, like sceneray and then all the dead animals and stuff but from what I read yeah it would be hard to make. It wont let me IMG it but here www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0349101779/026-9960815-3075640?v=glance&n=266239&s=books&v=glanceI love that cover and its even inspired me to look at the countryside around me and want to use it for my film!

The one I've got looks like that on the front. Which sort of makes sense once you've read the story If you're into sci-fi you should read Use Of Weapons. I never normally read sci-fi but I'd seriously recommend that book, especially if you're a fan of Banks.
