what is Linux ive been hearing l;loads of people are getting it for the ps3 what is it? It's a free operating system.... like Windows, but free and open-source (so many people are continually expanding and improving it). The one downer I hear about Linux on the PS3 is that at the moment, you cannot access the full processing power of the PS3 in Linux, it won't allow access to the cell processor. No idea why.

dave could you not just get a USB hard drive so that you dont have to unscrew anything? Not entirely sure, but it definitely depends on what you want the additional storage space for. If it is for videos and photos and music, then the external option is fine I think. It's the game side that I am not sure about. I don't think you can run games from an external drive (the kind you would download from the PS store... or the game data that some disc games put onto your hard drive to improve load times). You can copy game data onto an external drive to back it up, but I think you have to put it back on the internal drive to use it. Like the article says... check out the official manual for more details about swapping the hard drive. It's all legit and won't void warranties. Also... the unscrewing is hardly brain surgery..haha. One big blue screw which holds the drive in place... and then the four screws which attach you hard-drive to the slidey tray which allows you to pull the thing in and out with ease. You basically tamper with nothing to do with the internal workings of the PS3. HERE'S A GOOD REASON TO UPGRADE THAT HARD DRIVE! www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/08/23/tv_tuner_on_ps3/Sky+ style fun. Play.com have it listed for a March release... 99 quids though. I'm not that bothered. TV is shite. ;D

External is definitely the best option for media other than games as you can u can pick up a 500gb drive for less than the price of a 250gb internal laptop drive for PS3. Although internal drives do tend to last longer as the hard disk constanly spins on an external drive if plugged in constantly reducing its life span.

I bought one off eBay on Friday, before I knew of the price drop. Lucky for me, it was sealed and only £30.00 delivered
