You bought Call of Duty 3 instead? Oh dear.... you should have controlled yourself there. Not played 3, but 4 is where it's at now.
I have to say that Uncharted is absolutely brilliant. I'm loving it. Seems like it might be quite short though going by the percentage it says I have completed when I save.
Get that Guitar Hero3 cracking Companero! I rate it as the best Guitar Hero yet! Harder than all the others though. Slayer's Reign In Blood on Hard.... that's never going to happen for me.... or Metallica's One... can just about manage all the rest on hard though. Whereas expert... oh my word! Completed about 60% on expert, but Welcome to the Jungle is holding me back! haha It's amazing to think that first game had no 3 finger chords at all.... Guitar Hero 3 on hard and expert have songs full of the tricky bastards!

Cheers for the recommendation, Dave – I've had hardly any time to play on the PS3 yet, and have only had two or three goes on guitar hero: like you say, it's bloody hard, especially for someone that's clumsy and as uncoordinated as me! Hahaha. I shall definitely persevere though – it's great fun and you feel a great sense of accomplishment when you get the notes right and this is on EASY hahaha!
Anyone using their PS3 to watch Blu-Ray discs? I was apprehensive at first, then I checked out CASINO ROYALE in 720p (not got a 1080p telly, though it's top of my big toy list and I plan to have one before then end of the year, when the missus and I move in together. The difference between 720p and regular standard definition DVD is quite remarkable – the fine detail in the background is an eye opener.
I know that many (including myself) have been a little weary of adopting one of the HD formats because of the uncertainty out there, but there was a shock announcement last week: Warner Home Video (and it's subsidiaries such as New Line Cinema, Picturehouse and HBO) will no longer be releasing their titles on both Blu-Ray and HD DVD from June 2008, when they will go Blu-Ray exclusive – that means only Paramount/DreamWorks and Universal are the only two studios releasing HD DVD exclusives, whereas Blu-Ray boast Warner, Sony/Columbia, Fox, MGM and The Walt Disney Co – doesn't take a genius to realise which format is going to prevail, does it?

I have:
Pro Evo 2008....pretty essential stuff
Resistance FOM....Came with the PS3, good game, especially in co-operative
Heavenly Sword, came with it, thought it would be a bit rubbish, but it's surprisingly good, nice story, and gameplay, difficult in parts tho
Call of Duty 4...got this for Xmas, amazing game, graphics, gameplay, attention to detail....top drawer stuff....bit short tho, completed it already.
Not sure what's next on the agenda....any ideas?

Not sure what's next on the agenda....any ideas? Uncharted: Drake's Fortune..... or Ratchet and Clank As for Blu-Ray.... it is corking isn't it! I got Casino Royale free when I registered my PS3 (probably only an offer that was around for the first few months of the PS3). I have also rented the BBC's Planet Earth on Blu-Ray. It is very pleasing on the eye that one! I see that the anniversary release of Close Encounters has just come out on Blu-Ray... I'd like to see that! I've got 1080p too! Yes, it's very good news that Warner have jumped the HD-DVD sinking ship. ps3.qj.net/Sony-stocks-rise-Toshiba-falls-after-Warner-goes-Blu-ray-exclusive/pg/49/aid/111160Universal were recently bribed by the HD-DVD camp to go HD-DVD exclusive. They're going to look right mugs in the very near future. Can't wait to get some Pixar stuff on Blu-Ray, but don't think any has been released yet.

Universal and Paramount are only committed to HD DVD until the end of this year, I think - will be very interesting to see what happens then, though it really does look like Warner's decision to back Blu-Ray exclusively is a deathblow to HD DVD.
Dave, you can get CLOSE ENCOUNTERS from HMV.co.uk for £13.99 delivered - a steal when you consider that there are 3 versions of the film and a plethor of extras.

Received STRANGLEHOLD today and have palyed it for a bit - really dig the game - can't understand why the gaming critics have been so harsh on it, from what I've seen so far. A game where you get to fly through the air--two guns a blazing--as Chow yun Fat? What's not to like?

There are rumours that Paramount are about to leave the shoddy HD-DVD ship soon all because of Warner Bros' move. Other sites are saying it's not true though. Oh well.
What is true is that Blu-Ray films are soon to some with a PSP video file of the film on the disc too. Just pop into your PS3, connect PSP via the ad-hoc wi-fi and copy the PSP version of the film to your PSP. I wonder if you will be able to copy from rented discs?!

According to Reuters, Paramount has a clause in its contract with the HD DVD consortium that allows them to cease releasing their product on the format if Warner Bros. go Blu-Ray exclusive. There are a load of rumours flying around at the moment (one of which alludes to Universal seeking advice from the BDA (Blu-Ray's main body) about the possibilities of quitting HD DVD and going Blu too. There are also several major hardware manufacturers toying with the idea of ceasing their HD DVD player assembly lines) but we won't know for sure until the studios in question make an official announcement.
As for the conversion of Blu Ray to PSP friendly files – that would be a great coup if it happens, eh? Sony boy that I am, I really want to get the most of the interactivity between PS3 and PSP. I think we'll be seeing a lot more PSPs sold off the back of the PS3; the synergy between the two formats is astounding, IMO.

The PSP video files being included on Blu-Ray films is a definite! Was announced by Sony at the CES thing that's been on recently.
The HD-DVD presentation at CES was abandoned and they made no announcements at all. What a shame. Well you can't blame them. They had their presentation planned for ages, then Warner Bros drops that bomb on them just 2 days before the show... without giving them any warning.

I know people that have bought players and the companies involved have spent a fortune developing and marketing HD DVD but let's be fair, there was only going to be room for one format to supersede DVD and that meant that there would be a casualty. At least it's becoming clear where everyone stands now, so consumers can invest in the hardware and discs without fear of backing something that may die a death.
