Watched 'Dolores Claiborne' last night, thoroughly enjoyed it thought Kathy Bates was terrific in it. Ranks alongside Darabont's movies, Carrie and Misery for my money. The Shawshank prison even gets a mention!

Saw 'The Children' tonight thought it was pretty crap to be honest, seemed like a sub-par Shymalan film but even 'The Happening' was better. I also saw Paddy's new movie round a mates the other night via 'cough cough' means. 'Cry of the Owl' was very impressed overall, I was a bit worried to begin with due to Paddy's american accent soon got used to it though and thought he was great in it.

Yeah apparently it 160kbps ogg/vorbis format it pumps out which is about the same as 192kbps mp3's. I bought some fairly decent creative ones for about £30 from argos and the sound quality is great. I've been racking my brains the last couple of days trying to think of old forgotten tunes I uesd to love, it really is amazing that this could one day probably have nearly every song ever recorded.

I've beeen using this since Wednesday and it's absolutely awesome, been listening to tunes I haven't heard in 15 years! Certainly a service I'd be willing to pay for when it gets completely comprehensive. It seems to have most stuff already though (4 million tracks at last count i think). I've been slow to warm to the mp3 thing. They're great but I still like my physical cds. Having seen this though I'm starting wonder what the point of having cd's is though. I was up til 3 on it last night, no doubt another late one tonight! The whole everything in one place is making me lazy though I can't be arsed to look for dvd's or cd's in the house nowadays and just play stuff on the puter.

My PS3 finally packed up the day before yesterday. As I mentioned before, it was somewhat selective with playing certain BRDs and games but it refused to play anything; not even DVDs! Took it back to Game today - was very impressed that they swapped it over straight away. Was not impressed when I got it home to discover that the "new" machine was covered in scratches and fingerprints - so it'll be back in the shop tomorrow... Yeah mines packed up too exact same thing, just a couple of weeks left of warranty so in a way i was kinda glad. I'd have been spitting teeth it would have gone next month. Sony are picking it up Thursday and I should get a repair/replacement within 3 weeks I'm told. I was a bit surprised as my is Ps2 still going strong seven years later. In fact I'm thinking of defecting to the 360 and selling the replacement on. Lord knows the 360 is a bit of a lemon but at just over £100 (online doesn't bother me) I can live with that, but a £300 machine dying within 12 months doesn't inspire confidence. Googled it a bit and it does seem quite common in the early 40 gig Ps3's. If I do decide to keep it I'm gonna see if Sony can offer an extended warranty at reasonable extra cost otherwise I think it will be bye bye ps3!

Finally found a current-gen game that lives up to the hype after being slightly underwhelmed with GTA IV and MGS4 (good games but not perfect 10's imho). Bioshock is every bit as good as they say really immersive and imaginative with loads of stuff to do. I'm about half way through and can't find fault with as yet, great game!

fiinished mgs4 last night the second half of the game is much better, overall good game but far too self indulgent, skipped the 90 minute cut scene at the end (lifes too short!). My least favourite of the four though. I crackeed and bought the arcade 360 last week coz of the price drop. Finally get to have a bash at Dead Rising lets hope thats the darn thing doesnt RROD before I finish it!

Finally got round to playing mgs4, on the 4th act and its finally started to get good, first 3 acts were dull as ditchwater. I'm used to the lengthy cut scenes but this one really takes the piss, loved all the others in the series (mgs3 best game ever!) but disappointed with this one so far. On the plus side it looks absolutely fantastic graphically.

P2 formulaic horror produced by alexandra aja, so expected it to be gory and twas. Not a bad movie, seen it all before but it passed away 90mins favourably. Worth a look.

Last band I saw live 'Bloc Party' great live but the second album was a bit of a disappointment, luckily they played most of 'Silent Alarm' too. Hot Chip are top of my to see list at the moment, great band.

Be kind rewind, not bad amusing rather than laugh out loud. The way they improvise movie making process is quite funny. Mos Def continues to impress me, by far the best of the rapper turned actor clan (Ice Cube, Ice T, Ice and Lemon etc) look forward to seeing more of him in more demanding roles. His low-key performance in 'The Woodsman' was excellent.
