its come to my attention that some people on this forum have this belief that drugs are part of skinhead culture ,,,without getting political i,d like all true skinheads or those that still uphold the way of life dear in their hearts to express their digust at drug use the looser lifestyle of drug users and show how far removed our working class ethics are away from this digusting habbit of self distrution,.

I may be wrong, but I haven't seen any posts at all that suggest that drug taking is part of skinhead culture. People have commented that they have known skins that have, but have not made any generalisations.
Are you saying that it is a completely 'straight-edge' way of life? No drinking or smoking?

you mean when shane said: "One final thing. I also managed to sneak in a new cameo as a drug dealer in a 1970's gold Addidas tracky."
which doesnt really suggest that the film suggests that drug use is part of skin head culture.
the only other time drugs was mentioned in that thread was when shane said about the fact he did a pick-up for "Dead Man's Shoes" (a completely different film entirely) for the scene where richard puts drugs in the kettle. this also suggests nothing about there being skins using drugs in shane's new film.
and another thing is.. shane said it, and it is his film, and he did live through that era, so if there was drug abuse he'd know. but anyway i dont have a clue as i never lived through the skin head era, but i can understand why you dont want skin heads to be represented as a drug using culture, if in fact it wasn't. so i can see why you're worried, but im sure shane will do a very true to life and realistic depiction of the era, not to worry!

maybe there is maybe there isnt thing is this thread might be a decent read regardless aslong as noone gets stupid and puts outragous comments here. i my self have already said i,v been a skinhead since the age of 19 from 1976 and i did ask for comments from skinheads on this not just anyone or someone who once had a pair of doc martins after all i had a cowboy suit once but i,m not or never have been a cowboy and shane is no longer a skinhead so he can never say it was true to his heart the way that some can, and thats no direspect its just a fact, its a way of life not a fasion or a trend.

I think you need to calm down pal.
No real point, just has anyone read it? what did they think? etc.. etc..
I'm not a skin, nor was I around in the times mentioned in Bovver or Shanes new film. So I borrowed a book, I read it, then mentioned it on here.
But forget it.... not important. I'm off to practice starting an argument in an empty room, I want to get good at it like you.

I was a Skinhead. I am now not a Skinhead. I was once a theif, I am now honest. I was once the owner of a top of the range BMW, I now own a £350 1989 hairdressors Jeep. Ain't life Kooky!
The tattoo's I had back then are still on my skin, the memories are still in my brain. I will tell it how I saw it. End of.
To put record straight for anyone who's interested. My film is not a Skinhead Film it is a film with Skinheads in it. Anyone who comes expecting to see the definitive Skinhead biopic will be hugely dissapointed. It is about England, it is about loss, it is about belonging, it is about teenage love, it is about violence, it is about hatred but most of all it is about Tomo, the boy who plays the lead in the film. If the film is hailed as a complete heap of shit but he stays on the straight and narrow, that will do for me.
The fact that anyone thinks they have some kind of right to judge it, me or others on the site before they have even seen it, is a bit of a joke. Those who think non/ex/can't be by law/ skinheads don't have the right to tackle the subject could always get up of their soapbox bummy wummies and make one themselves!

This week has had some proper negative vibes going on here. Ending with Shane having to defend himself and his unseen film on a forum dedicated to his work. Hmmmm how Wank is that.
But that said, Nice one Shane following your post I'm even more excited about the new film. Love, Hate, belonging, violence all in the mix to another Meadows Masterclass in filmmaking. I can't Fkin wait.
P.S wanna sell the jeep?

this thread is in noway an attack on the film read it what its about its a general thread due to the fact the subject of skinheads is part of the forth coming movie in some form or another theres no mention of the film on this thread its just an honest post whats the big problem.

To put record straight for anyone who's interested. My film is not a Skinhead Film it is a film with Skinheads in it. That's an important distinction to make. It is the perfect answer to any past of future claptrap about the authenticity of skinhead representation.

I think your first sentence of the thread said it all Oifan:
"its come to my attention that some people on this forum have this belief that drugs are part of skinhead culture"
And the simple answer to all this is that there a no current, ex, soon-to-be or wanna-be skinheads on this forum (I have a skinhead but im sure it doesnt count in this situation). All that unites us here is that we are all Shane Meadows fans. We are ignorant to the lifestyle and in no position to judge or comment for or against it. I would like to hear you view point on other Meadows films then we can all have a good chin wag on the same level.
