Came across this today. South Bank Show special on Shane in (edit) May: www.itv.com/page.asp?partid=6896'Shane Meadows 27/05/2007 23:10 Shane Meadows is one of Britain's leading independent film directors. His films are often set in Staffordshire, his hometown, and are described as ‘kitchen sink' dramas with a post-modern twist. His films have included Once Upon A Time in the Midlands, TwentyFourSeven, A Room For Romeo Brass and the phenomenal hit, Dead Man's Shoes, which won numerous prizes including Best Film at The South Bank Show Awards in 2005. Few directors have tapped into their damaged roots as consistently or as brilliantly as Meadows. His ability to make an original screenplay from the tiniest of budgets has made him one of Britain's finest guerrilla film-makers. In Spring 2007, he is releasing his next feature This Is England which is a rites of passage story based on an 11-year old boy growing up in Uttoxeter in the North of England, in the early 80s, joining a gang of skinheads who all become involved in the rise of the National Front. Through Meadows, the film will give an insight into what life is like for British independent film-makers, and the state of the British film industry.' Edit: why do critics/commentators keep describing Shane's films as 'postmodern'? What's 'postmodern' about them???

Yes, great for Shane. 'bout time he received some exposure among the 'chattering classes' even if some of the details are wrong I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking that TIE is going to be big, despite the misguided BBFC decision...........

There is a full page article on This Is England in this month's (April)Scootering magazine. It contains a few spoilers but is once again a very positive review from a section of the community closely linked to the skinhead culture. The last paragraph reads "Despite there not being a single scooter, or even a reference, given the superb soundtrack and the rites of passage portrayal, This Is England will, I think, find favour with the majority of Scootering readers. Judge for yourselves, and at the same time discover why Shane Meadows is so highly regarded within the film industry both nationally and internationally."

That's great Rob! I don't listen to Radio One myself but it seems she is certainly flying the flag for This Is England.
Hey Dokdrain. Good find there. Good to see that the film has been given a glowing review despite the lack of Scooters! Must be good!

More great news there then!
Is there any one person on here that can capture these TV appearances to their computer and then pass them on to me? I don't have the technology.... I don't even have a decent enough TV signal either to be honest.
Anyone up for it, send me a personal message, and I'll remind you what needs skyplussing (or however you are going to do it).

keep an eye out for me i will be the one with the fucking huge look of pride on my face and very rightly so the lads acting is brilliant and comes across as so natural. I'm sure we will see much more of him on the screen after TIE offical release. Pointblank coincidently in TIE are you the actual guy with Tommo on the photos on the beach and in the army uniform photo???
