I took my girlfriend to see TIE the day of it's release at a multiplex in North-West London. It broke my heart that the screen wasn't filled out; one cheeky old sod had the front to fall asleep and start snoring. Just as I was about to give him a shake and wake him up, the scene where Combo beeps the car horn at Lol (on her way to work) came up on the screen and the old git sh!t himself. I couldn't stop laughing. ;D Anyway, back to my point. I took two friends to the same cinema two days later (Sunday) and there were not many people in there at all, although this is semi-understandable due to it being a Sunday. After a week of plugging the film to other friends and people at Uni, I took a group of six people to the same cinema 5 days later, so TIE had been out a week by now. I asked for 7 tickets to the 9.15 show (same show I'd seen twice before). Imagine my anger/disgust/frustration when the kid serving me told me that they had pulled it out of the screen because Spiderman 3 had just been released and demanded three screens! Demanded it! Wankers! Spoilt my night, even my week. I've been kicking off about it on imdb and with anyone that I've come into contact with. I don't want to appear like I'm ranting, but the injustice I feel about a piece of challenging, warm, scary, tense, funny, beautiful (almost complete) picture like TIE being bullied out of the theatres by the Hollywood machine makes me fuc*ing sick! Ahhh, feel much better now! Thanks for letting me share.

Sadly we stopped showing TIE after its third week. Being an arty farty kind of place, we have our film bookings sorted a month in advance, so can't keep hold of stuff longer than we planned... even if it is doing well (which TIE still was). Pain in the arse. A three week run of any film is pretty rare here to be honest.
Cineworld in Bristol though are now on their 5th week of showing it! That's pretty amazing.
EDIT: Just noticed that the Showcase in Bristol is now showing This Is England too. It's that top ten appearance for three weeks that have got the vultures hovering!

Really, really self indulgent and could easily have been forty-fifty minutes shorter. I could rant all day long about why I didn't like it, but I wont waste anyone's time!
