I reckon it'll be out in September - the last theatrical date on the official site is 3rd September - so I can't imagine the DVD coming out before then. Reckon your right mate that place is local and they only show films that have just come out on DVD or are about to a few days later.

Hmm i can see that changing, they've most probably put it up so they'll get a lot of pre-orders considering how well TIE is doing in the cinema, and how well DMS is doing in DVD sales.

The other possibility is that there is going to be a crap 'vanilla' DVD rushed out with naff all extras on it! Boo!

RRrr man, theres too much stuff that NEEDS to be seen by you guys, I sincerly doubt the DVD wouldn't contain special features.
Then again that really is just a guess..
(note, if there ever was a much needed Shane appearence in a thread, now is that time!)

When I mentioned a DVD with no extras, I was thinking along the lines of a proper DVD coming along later. Like the swindle that was the Children of Men DVDs.
This sort of thing seems to be out of the director's hands too.

Yeah but if you sent back your vanilla disc to this address then they would send you the two disc free of charge!

I don't know but I suspect the dvd will be rammed with extras! What I hope ISN'T included is the footage of the location manager squealing like a girl as he's taken 150ft up in a lighting crane...! There must be literally hundreds of hours of behind the scenes footage. As for a director's cut.. the film IS a director's cut! At least I think it is.. because isn't that the whole point of Shane's film-making ethos - keep hold of as much editorial control as possible!

I may be wrong, but i swear i remember Shane saying something about having to get the film under a certain length, maybe a task set by himself though? Or maybe i just completely mis-understood something he said?

I think your right i'm sure its been mentioned before that Shane is contracted to submit a running time at or below 100 minutes therefore forcing him to cut scenes he would've have kept.

at the end of the day you dont want a film thats over 100 minutes do you? TIE is perfect lengh IMO. I mean, look at all the punch the film delivers in its running time.
i dont particularly like apocalypse redux... i like apocalypse now though!

If it's good enough it's long enough. Or short enough for that matter.
eg The Godfather is quite weighty but its all good. I actually thought on This is England I could've watched another 30 mins easily. Not that that takes owt away from it, but on first viewing it seemed fairly short to me.
I'm still 50-50 on Apocalypse Now - I can't work out if it's a great film or a great fucking mess.
