Just wondered if the allusion to Truffaut's Les Quatre cent coups at the end of TIE could possibly lead to a continuation of Shaun's story, like the Antoine Doinel series of films? Be great to see Tomo and Shane return to the character in a few years time like Truffaut and Leaud with Stolen Kisses.

i like what your saying angrysloucher... traffaut found a way of doing this, which had none of the associations that you would normally lend to the notion of 'the sequel'... i could watch shane and tomo work together forever

As much as i would like to see Tomo in another Shane Meadows film i'm wondering if there is a period in Shanes life so far that had as much impact on him as the early eighties obviously did. TIE for me was a great film because it shows a life changing event in a boys progression to manhood, a loss of innocence that only really happens once. Maybe i'm wrong, i usually am.

Hey,
Shane works with the same actors all the time without them being direct sequels, so he could and should continue to work with all of the brilliant ensemble of actors from TIE...
but I for one would love to see what else happened in Shane's life to transform him from that experience into making films.
I for one would have liked to see a sequel as one of the options for the poll a few months back for "What should Shane do next?"

if you think about it, in a way shaun is richard...
well, i mean, if you look at it like that, obviously there not the same characters, or played by the same actors, but i'm sure you know what i mean
its hard to explain but i personally find it an interesting way of looking at it
also, richard is more of a what if character...
idk maybe wut i said was bullshit, hard to explain

Like i said in earlier post Shane/Shaun experiencing something as strong as the subject matter of TIE is one thing but can Shane have had enough experience to make the sequel as strong. Dont get me wrong i love Shane's films and TIE is now and will always be in my top ten but as a relatively young man how strong can the next few years be. Dont get me wrong i'm sure the intervening years have been interesting enough but enough for a 90 minute film, i'm not sure. Either way if Shane makes it i'll watch it.

As far as I'm concerned it will never happen.
I don't imagine that Shane wants to spell out everything that happens to Shaun and the rest of the character. It's for us to imagine.

sequels as a rule are a terrible idea used to squeeze any cash outta stupid fucks pockets. I'd much rather see shane start a new project than dick about carrying things on. Like that dick irvine welsh, what a twat. Trainspotting was good we dont need to know what happened ten years or whatever later, you onlu wrote it for the film you bald tosser.
oh and while im ranting lets have a little test to name any good sequels, ill start with the obvious,
godfather part 2, aliens, the empire strikes back,
also im not on anout sequels that are better than the first just good ones.

OK, I'll get the ball rolling: Superman 2 (better) Back to the Future 2 (not better, but not bad) Indiana Jones 2 (maybe better) Does The Good the Bad and the Ugly count?
