For a start this doesn't actually sound that amazing, but the thing is my mum has absolutely NO interest in film WHAT-SO-EVER she just can't get into them, or falls asleep watching or whatever. (I really don't know where i got my taste for films from, i say its from my surroundings growing up, rather then genes) Anyway, in the car with her today and she was driving, i stuck on the TIE soundtrack because radio is crap. And listening to the sound clips my mum was in hysterics! She loved it! Upon hearing woody she said "that sounds like that guy from Emerdale" ha ha, and i was like "probably, because it is!" ha ha. But yeah she really loves all the soundclips she heard on there, we both had a great laugh about the shoeshop scene, just cos we could both relate to it so much. So, though my mum hasn't seen the film, i reckon she'd like it. I'm lookin forward to getting the DVD (3rd sept btw if you haven't checked other threads) and sitting down and watching it with family, it'll be interesting It was just really cool, and slightly odd, cos my mum has never taken an interest in any of the films i watch so yeah. So welldone shane for making even a non-film lover want to see your films!

My dad's like that he will tut EVERYTIME he hears a swear word! It's weird that. In some people of an older generation, it has become like a reflex action. I think it's also something to do with their psychological make-up. It's like they are unable to deal with a swearword in silence. There has to be disapproval expressed otherwise they might explode. Every tut should be met with a shhhh! Everyone knows that a person who tuts is someone you are not likely to able to have a balanced discussion with.

Ha ha, i think my Dad may explode if he doesn't do it. I usually just say to him when he does it "come on dad, its just a swear word, PEOPLE SWEAR, deal with it" I also enjoy how when my mum was quoting shaun's line from the shoe shop: "i fuckin' want them!" she just said "but i want them ones" ha ha, avoiding swearing, even though its a quote. I don't swear much, and i don't think its cool to do or anything. But i'm not dead against it, i think at times it needs to be used, and i don't care when people do use the words, as long as they don't keep using them. It kinda takes away the poin of the word. Did anyone see that doco on kids swearing in schools? There was 1 school that was really bad for it, and they went in and tried to stop it. Some etticet (can't spell) woman and the editor of Viz.

Right, I'm going to have my wrists slapped by here.
My old man brought home a bootleg copy of TIE the other day as I liked, sorry, loved the film so much, I asked my mother if she wanted to see it. There was nothing much else on the box, so she agreed.
Must admit, she didn't see why I was making such a fuss about it.
She didn't like the fact about a twelve year old mixing in with the likes of either Woody or Combo, and thought that there was too much 'bad' language in it.
Safe to say that she's not into realistic, thought provoking films. Put it this way, she hated Trainspotting.
Well, each to their own.

Got an email from some friends in Nott'm today. I've been trying to convince them that Shane's films are brilliant for eons (kind of upsets me when people are indifferent, and especially so if they live in Nott'm for f*cks sake!) Anyway, they've been to see TIE and they loved it! Hoorah!

.....In some people of an older generation....Everyone knows that a person who tuts is someone you are not likely to able to have a balanced discussion with. I was driving through Hanley a few years back about 10 o'clock at night-in winter. These girls spilled out of a pub wearing really scimpy dresses and I heard my self go 'tut, tut'-horrible moment of realisation that I really was getting old

I've invited a mate to see it, and he HATED IT WITH A PASSION. I told him it was the same bloke that wrote and directed 24/7 and Dead Man's Shoes, yet he still hated it yet he liked those two films.
Believe me, I do try and convert people with good taste but they're never grateful.

Some etticet (can't spell) woman and the editor of Viz. yeah i watched that one... was appalled at how appaled i was at all the swearing... felt it was ever so slightly unrepresentative though (not that kids don't swear or owt) put a camera in front of a kid and ask them to swear and its inevitably going to happen
