I have kept this a little closer to my chest than usual as every time I announce something, It tends to collapse in a great big heap of unfundable poop. I have, for the last month or so, been in discussions with Paddy (Considine) and Mark Herbert about trying to ressurect the charactor of Le Donk in some format and allow ourselves to have some proper fun before we begin writing King of the Gypsies in the Winter.
A couple of months back I was asked to get involved with shooting a film with the Artic Monkeys at their Old Trafford concert (Happening over the last weekend of July). I didn't really see myself making a concert film on a par with woodstock, so declined, but after talking to Paddy about how gutted I was that we have never made anything with the charactor of "Donk' the penny dropped and I realised that we had a golden platform for 'Le Donk' staring us in the face.
So we decided to buy 'Le Donk' a bedford rascal camper van, get him signed up as an official 'Roady' and we are about to set off to old trafford on a 5 day adventure in search of a film. We have No script, No funding and a tiny crew, but we are all buzzing about it and think the whole thing could be shot edited and ready for showing way before crimble!
We know not whether it will be a Short, a Feature or the first episode of a series, but it'll be a great crack getting back in the saddle, and if Paddy's first rehearsals are anything to go by, It should be piss funny! Rock on!!!!

Great stuff Shane - can't wait to see this - will Paddy still have his 'slight impediment' when doing Le Donks' voice - "Extvvavaganza" - I've a mate who speaks like that and found it hilarious! Good luck with it! Neil.

Exciting times are here again! Not only Le Donk, but evidence that King of the Gypsies has the backing it needs?!?!

Here... whilst I've been having a mooch, found this from an interview with yer good self Shane... Meadows already has his next feature planned, and it sounds both hilarious and wildly different. It's called Le Donk. 'Le Donk will be the next film and Paddy will be in it. It's about a rock drummer who gets dropped from his label and he has to go back and work on the council estate. It'll be a fly-on-the-wall documentary and will be totally different. He's called Le Donk because he got off with a French student when he was at school.' And of course, I had to have a look at the vid again... and I can't be mithered getting out the Midlands DVD... so I used God's own - youtube: Click Here to SeeStill creases me that... he can't half shift though - like an amphetamine filled dog with worms that's in a hurry - geat stuff! N.
