Hello everyone. I'd just like to say that its great to see everyone defending the film, and holy shit is that really shane meadows himself responding? Like i said i was a huge fan of shane meadows, and to be honest i'd say i still am, but i had just come out of the film yesterday and i was very disappointed. i'm not one of these guys who goes online to complain about things, because most of the time i think people only churn out what their capable of. but i know that shane meadows is great, so i was very disappointed with the film. and i have no problem whatsoever in him getting paid, what my problem is is that the contrived way in which the film is made, and obviously all films are contrived blah blah blah, but i think it was the feeling of dishonesty about the whole thing that upset me. I acknowledge that my "shane meadows how do you sleep at night" comment was a bit over the top but i was well pissed off and i stand by my criticisms of the film. So there.

Really though, he's a grumpy git at the best of times. Edit: Although thats the most readable critisism ive read of the film. Nice one for coming back though dankeane.

Really though, he's a grumpy git at the best of times. Haha. I'd go as far as to say that Bradshaw is a text book example of one of those old, bitter critics that resents anyone who has the career in filmmaking that alluded him.

Woaf! Its really kicked off....
I came out of the film thinking, "Oh, I need to go to France, MUST TRAVEL BY EUROSTAR!" I've booked my tickets and I'm off.... the product placement was so intense, in fact I'm on the Eurostar as I write this...... thank you Shane Meadows for showing me what was wrong in my life... If I had just travelled by Eurostar earlier then I wouldn't have been such a bum....
I'm talking shit.... a bit like the first post on this thread

oh and one correction to the title of my thread, i think the film was actually 71 minutes long, not 75. I think so far ive seen it listed as 70, 71, 72 and 75. So 75 minutes for a £6 cinema ticket you pay 8p per minute.

salvador, is that how you understand advertising works? are you denying that the film was an advert for Eurostar? what's your point? that the film is a covert ad for Eurostar is a FACT. so what are you trying to say?

My favourite bits in Somers Town were when Tomo mentioned "4 cans of Carling"... and later when he says he uses. "Head & Shoulders".
Both of those items are my next big shopping list!

I would 'Fly Emirates' but saw Marek wearing the Man U shirt first. Spunked all my dough on a 18 month Vodafone contract.

that the film is a covert ad for Eurostar is a FACT It was harldly covert though was it? I suppose there are people that would have seen the film without knowing the funding. Although it certainly wasnt a secret. Im taking my lady to see it, im pretty sure she isnt aware of the funding. Although If she come out of the cinema twitching and desperate to get on the Eurostar express, i'll be amazed, and concerned. Seriously though dankeane. Are you pissed of because you didnt know who funded it before you went to see it? Or did you know, however went out of curiosity? Or did you actually get an urge to go to paris and couldnt work out why you woke up in the somers town area, crying and pacing the platforms of st pancras. And only after research you realised you had been subvertly brainwashed. EDIT: Ignore the spelling mistakes. My hands a bit mullered.
