Paulblackpool, these guys have a right to defend their favourite film maker. This IS a fan site. Who are you to say it’s obsessive? By the way... welcome to the site Meadowsfan! You must be the biggest fan of all with a name like that! Anyway... yes, that was what I found annoying about the person who started this thread. They come to a fan site which they have never actively been involved with in the past just to sound-off about their negative opinions. Surely if the film disgusted you so much you wouldn't ever want to visit the site again, unless of course you wanted people to notice you and your 'dangerous' opinion.

Orrrr god, im feelin better now ive just had me tablet... Phewee, golly gosh, i cant believe i missed this bad boy, now ive had time to read it all (as before id only read the 1st whacko post) i feel its super funny. The comments are ace. Love people... I never saw a bleedin train just the gurkin (that famous building) are we talking about Tomo's train, all i saw was the crack of his little teenage butt, not his train (THANK GOD)! oh, no, ok... But i am still really really annoyed at SHANE for being so selfish. Its just not right that he made a short into a feature because he had so much great footage and did not want to waste it, so he thought it could make a movie, try somethin different. God Shane please make ALL YOUR FILMS IN THE MIDLANDS IN FUTURE. Stop being rubbish... I reckon it would of been worse if he had just made a 15 minute add - seriously, at least he has used his noggin and done something different. A commercial 15 mins would of been a real sell out. SELL OUT SHANE!!!! Lets give it the guy, he's tried something different, but you say its not come from his heart Dankadankangi.. i know Shane and it has, he got run over when he was 7 by a steam train in the Shaw and thats why he is so talented because the main wheel of the train went over his left head, light which is the side your brain that is attatched to the clever bit and it made him an artist. Yeeeaaaahhhhh. I like it!!! Im goin to watch big brother i think im missin an important eviction. Ive got another audition in the morning, its all fuckin SHANES fault! IDIOT!!!!!!! xxxx Dont you just love Julie Walters in Mamma MIA. ps please dont stop posting Dan its ace!

Paulblackpool, these guys have a right to defend their favourite film maker. This IS a fan site. Who are you to say it’s obsessive? What is this?!? A 2 post wonder trying to take me on? I didnt say they didnt have a right, just highlighted that if Shane filmed a dog having shit they would think it was exquisite and genius, bit like when Damien Hirst unviells one of his abominations. I know it, so do the people in here and Shane probably knows it too but no one dare say it because better to stay in the pack. This group needs the members to be more forward thinking as one and not think as a pack, geeing up the next man because thats his view and ill follow what he says mentality. Dave by the way, how far am i off becoming a MeadowsManiac?

PaulBlackpool... Meadows Maniac criteria is top secret! But also... aswell as missing previous barneys on here, you have missed dissenting voices too. Shame you missed them, looks like you enjoy a flare-up! (many of us do!). But really, this is a Shane Meadows fansite where like-minded folk have gathered. That might have something to do with the fact that most comments are favourable and pleasant. We've talked about this issue on here before, and I tried to coin the catchphrase: "ShaneMeadows.co.uk, like the internet, but with manners!"Basically, I think most of us like going by a general philosophy of good manners on here. Just because it is the internet, it's not obligatory to bang-on about everything you hate straight in the face of those you hold responsible. I hate Jim Davidson, but I haven't sought out his website, signed up to any forum he may have, and then started yakking about why I hate his work. I just avoid him. If it was someone I once liked and then I disliked something they did, I would just go away and leave them to it without shouting C**T on the way out.

Depends on what you're a fan of. If you're a fan of Shane, you've got a shot at being obsessive. If you're a fan of his films, then you're probably in the clear. Frankly, I still seem a bit half-and-half over some of Shane's shorts but his features seem to a really high standard. You're not getting blind fanboyisms here, which leads me to believe most people are on the level, here.
Except when they're talking about each other's short efforts. Sod being polite, man.

I wouldnt still be typing here if it were full of fanboys and the sort. Were all pretty level headed. Paulblackpool, you should find the paddy considine thread.... and trust me, the balance of opinion on here is varied and honest. Stick around a bit longer and you'll see. Although I dont think anyone needs to apologise for being a fan of shanes work.

It's to your credit that the community is as nice as it is, Dave. I know there have been some occasional issues with new members signing up just to cause trouble; remember our lovely racist friends that try to wind us up in the THIS IS ENGLAND section? Anyway, yes, there's a great community here, posters old and new all seem to get on fine, on the whole. Other internet forums could certainly learn a lot from the way in which most of the members conduct themselves on here.

I personally think everyone here is honest about their opinions. I know I am. We don't all just brown nose Shane and everything he does. We watch it, form an opinion and share it. If there's any part of a Meadows film I don't like, I'll mention it. Same with any other film. I'm sure all other posters would too.

As a professional film extra I am currently trying to send you my CV, I sent one 2 days ago via "Big Arty Productions" C/O Channel 4 so it's a long shot I know. I am also a fan , went to see Somers town last night and enjoyed it, you seem to be able to draw extraordinary performances from untrained actors. As my CV is currently missing a horror film would I would want to do that.
Regards, Callum
