So somebody who signs up today who is a confident speaker and can get this done will get priority over forum members who would love to have contributed but are not able to due to either lack of confidence or ability? Im not just speaking about myself i know that there are others out there who didnt feel able to do this despite there love, knowledge and interest in Shanes films. I know where you're coming from there, but the situation is pretty much the same...except contributors to the fan commentary are guaranteed an invite. For everyone else the situation remains the same... if you're a maniac you're in with a chance... same as ever. But Mr HMVLee... I would still be keen to have your contribution as the opener to the commentary. Remember, there's no right or wrong contribution to the commentary, you can talk about all-sorts of Meadows related info, not just the piece of the film you are commentating on. For a start, you could probably fill a minute talking about how you first noticed Shane's work and how you got into it. It's the various types of chat which will keep it unique! Deadmansrockports... send in an alternative take whenever you get one done and I will replace your previous bit if you like.

I pop your name down again... let me know when/if you want me to take it off. Use the technique I used.... watch your five minutes a few times... make notes about what you are going to say. If you need to, you could write yourself a whole script if you think that notes won't get you through it.

Lee, I used to be absolutely hopeless at anything which involved standing up and speaking, even if it was to record something and I was the only one there. Self conscious, and wondering why on earth anyone would be interested in hearing little me speak. Then a little while go, I realised something which has changed all that. The thing I realised was that "I Didn't Have to be Doing This!" I was invited to do a bit of a talk about filming and locations at a council meeting in Notts - and I accepted. Beforehand I was really nervous about what to say, all eyes in the room staring at me etc.. yaaaahhhh!! And then I realised that I had actually chosen to be there, I could have made some excuse and declined, but the fact that I had specifically put myself in that position immediately gave me some powers to do it properly. They wanted me there, so the least I could do was make a half decent contribution. Instead of being self-conscious, you have to start getting audience conscious. Put yourself in their position. I'm still not sure that makes sense, so think of it this way... You've been on this forum a long time, making lots of very interesting and valuable comments. Regardless of how you yourself feel about doing this, I (and no doubt other members of the forum) actually want to hear your contribution, and this is your chance to shine. You can't spend your whole life hiding, sometimes you have to stick your head above the parapet and do some things you normally wouldn't do. Just try it! Also, if Dave can do it, anyone can. Also, like Shindig said on a different thread, this'll probably be the biggest anti-climax since Graeme Souness, which made me lough out loud. ..motivational videos are available on request...

Thanks Rich but to be honest i would be able to stand up in a room and do this without any problems, its more the sitting in a room talking into my computer that throws me off.

Sod it Lee.. put your monitor in a dress, whack a wig on it and chat to it like its a mate.
I think we all think the same really. RichK got it spot on, although I'll add, we're certainly not all blessed with the filmic knowledge of others. And this is the point of the whole excercise. Its a cross section of meadows fans with varying views and opinions.
So whether or not you mumble and fumble your way through 5 mins of an mp3 file, fuck it, you can do it and you have done it.
Saying that. I need to do it.

I havn't listened to mine since I did it... well I think I did once. I sound like an idiot. But I don't really care. I said what I wanted to say and, someone out there must agree. Also, I think it's a great project. Feels good to be involved in something like this.
Sammo, no mic into your computer? MP3 player that records?

Hi Ryd,
I didn't think about a mic into the comp - that I should be able to do... I think I've got an internal mic here somewhere (talks to monitor...)
I'll have a play around today and see how it goes.

In theory there are only two sections left to choose from... however, I am awaiting the recordings of a good few people of course.

HMV (and others) I'm not sure if this is helpful or not, but I have my file (WMA) in my sent email folder and I am happy to forward it to anyone who just wants a idea of what others have done.
I feel a bit bad now about my 'come on Maniacs' jibe. I used to be a pretty shy person, but I went into a job where I had to talk for a living and now it's sort of second nature...it's easy to forget how hard these things are if you're not accustomed to it. If it's not shyness, but the artificiality of the situation that's putting people off....I tried to imagine the voice of the person who was proceeding me.
I for one would really like to hear what other contributors have to say....and it'll be interesting to hear how different peoples 'takes; are.
