I watched Crank 2 again last night round my mates (he lliked G.I Joe!) needless to say the look of bewilderment on his face all the way through was priceless. There were quite a few bits I hadn't noticed first time round, like where the old lady says about Chelios being the double of the guy out the Trainspotter movies (haha). I really liked it first time round, loved it the second! Priceless! This is exactly the thing that makes it so good. People who like action films generally don't like it and/or complain that it is too stupid! ;D Gamer is out this coming Friday!! Bring it on!!

I had one eye on the movie and one on my mates face all the way through and I can't decide which was more entertaining!

Damn... Gamer isn't out this Friday at all. It's not until the 18th September now! Bloody heck. I'm sure that's been changed. Maybe it is to avoid the District 9 opening which I'm sure will be a pretty big one!
I'm sure I saw a bus with Gamer on the side that said 4th September... just the other day.

Found a few Gamer reviews now, and they pretty much all slate it.... for example: Entertainment Weekly As the brutish Kable, Gerard Butler must find out who's pulling his strings, but it's the audience whose chain gets yanked by this headache-inducing techno-violent mishmash. Plenty of fun stuff like that, and one brilliant comment I read somewhere calling Neveldine & Taylor the most inept minds working in film today! High praise indeed! Trouble is, I'm now properly concerned it will be just awful. Oh dear. Still looking forward to it.... if it turns out to be a massive turd, then at least the film-making should be interesting to watch again. Metacritic has raised my hopes though. Critics average review score out of 100 is 25 (from 7 reviews), ie piss poor But the 6 fan reviews make an average of 8.3 out of 10 (no idea why one is out of 100 and the other out of 10), which of course is equal to 83 out of 100 (if it were a percentage). Hopefully it's another case of the general reviewers not having a clue and not 'getting it'. Also on iMdB, Gamer has an average score of 7.4 out of 10 from 475 votes! Looks like the cult following of Neveldine/Taylor goes from strength to strength, totally at odds with the 'wise' opinions of the reviewing elite! ;D Please be good!

A great review on the DVDTimes website of the Crank High Voltage blu-ray from someone who actually understands what the film is doing.... which is rare. It's all non-stop spoilers in both the text and the image grabs from the film, so unless you have already seen it, or don't give a toss, don't take a look. **CRANK2 SPOILERS** www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content/id/71452/crank-2-high-voltage.html

I think the Gamer slating is obvious, who listens to critics anyway.
Looking forward to the Crank:2 release, i'm even tempted to hold out and buy a blu-ray player when I get paid.
REO Speedwagon surround sound heaven..

Got my Crank2 blu-ray in the post on Saturday! Not out til today officially! not re-watched the film yet, but had a quick scan through the extras and have watched the behind-the-scenes/making of documentary all the way through. It is brilliant! An excellent running time of 51 minutes! Lots of fun and interesting facts in there. Neveldine & Taylor are great! They are often trying to be funny and thankfully they MOSTLY succeed. "I think we should start calling her Amy Hot, cos she is hot and she's actually not that smart" ..... swiftly followed by the 'that was a joke clause'. ;D They are also brilliantly honest and totally self-aware. They are happy to admit that they were asked to do Crank2 by Lionsgate because Crank had done really well on DVD. They were not interested, but said, "we were happy to sell-out and write a script for Crank2 that some other chump could direct." But, it was during the writing process that they began to love the script they were creating, and eventually realised that they were the only ones who could direct the film in their own unique way. As for Crank3, they go into a big tirade about the state of society and dumbing-down and failing moral standards, and how everything is going to shit ("helped along by us of course" Neveldine merrily points out).... and Taylor ends with, "..and when things get to the lowest point, the very bottom of the barrel, then the time will be right for Crank3". Nice! The producer mentions they 'have ideas' for Crank3 too.

just saw gamer, Dave, and i feel he's right.and i loved crank 2, loved it. it has some good ideas but they all belong to someone else. i was genuinely disappointed, though the bizarre casting made up for it a little bit. bring on crank 3, i say.

Damn! Oh dear. Still not seen it yet. I was going to see a preview screening, but then found out that the local Odeon was showing the previews in their tiny little crap screen. No thanks! Now it is properly released it is in a proper screen. Phew!

I have to say that I do pretty much agree with you there. I was prepared for something much worse though after all the bad reviews and what-not, but I didn't think it was the diabolical turd that most people seem to think it is. For something that seemed to promise so much violence and gore, it only partially delivered, and was actually somehow quite boring despite all the bangs and depravity on display. There were still a number of bits I really enjoyed the style of. The bit where Gerard is picked up on the bike by that Humanz young woman was a real Crank worthy edit fest! Nice. That was the trouble though really, the film was a bit boring, so I ended up focusing more on the film-making than the film... and there was quite a bit to enjoy in that department I thought. I really liked the rather short first burst of fire-fighting in the rave scene. Who knew that blood glowed so beautifully under ultra-violet light! haha Maybe it doesn't really. The thing lots of people say about it is that it made them feel dirty! haha It is genuinely grotty, but that is definitely the point. You're supposed to feel like you're being exposed to something nasty and seedy. I see Lloyd Kaufman made another cameo appearance as one of the pre-programmed NPC characters in Slayers just banging into a shop front or something similar. Efron Ramirez had a few seconds cameo too as the rave DJ. All in all a frustrating experience because I have so much goodwill for Neveldine & Taylor but the film just ended up being not very good... despite a few sparks of quality hidden in there. They also wrote a film called Pathology, but they didn't direct it. Anyone else seen that? I rented it, and it was rather crap. By the way, I'm not sure if it's on the DVD, but the Crank'd Out commentary on the Blu-Ray is brilliant! It's like watching another feature length behind-the-scenes documentary hosted by Neveldine & Taylor sat on a couch. They are often trying to be funny, and luckily for me, I find that they are. A brilliant extra feature! Crank 3 is mentioned a few times in passing... not as a sure thing though sadly.

I thought Pathology was pretty funny, despite its many flaws. Suffered from very pedestrian cinematography/direction and was largely miscast, from what I remember.
