Spoiler**** Dummy Spitting Alert*****Spoiler I am really fucked off that they didn't show paddy's bit or at the very least the bit where I mention Graham Forde, the man whom without his support, I would never have made a single short film never mind a feature! I don't need to see my fat pie on TV anymore but my whole speech was about the fact that whenever I mention Graham in interviews people cut it out. I thought that this would ensure they wouldn't have the nerve to cut it out after a room full of people heard me say it and told Graham to watch it and him and his family stayed up to see a 0.9 sec clip of me saying the words 'Heart Attack', I was gutted man, Gutted! Anybody want an award?

So, do we take it that they don't see their 'outstanding achievement award' as worthy of the air time?? That seems pretty odd to me and really disappointing.
Other than that, it looked like quite an entertaining do!!

...hang on, they showed 'best f**kin' soundtrack'!!!! How can that be shown and their 'outstanding achievement award' gets bumped.
To be honest, I've never trusted Empire - but then I did used to freelance for Total Film!!!

when you get to were Shane is now its only people like Shane who want to remember all the people who were with them and behind them from the very start. all to many only worry that they own name is fully lite up like a Christmas tree its a real British thing not the sort of Hollywood I'm alright jack mentality not to forget all those who helped them start out its a shame they did not leave your thanks to Graham Forde & paddy as it clearly means a lot to you.but they will know all to well what sort of a man you are and would not have wanted any credit leaving them aside

Yeah that is a proper piss take.
I honestly felt Shane that your speech was the most genuine of the lot, something that was able to entice all.

Congratulations on the award, but sorry to hear about the shitty handling of your speech about Graham Forde. The Empire website seems to have a full transcript of the acceptance speech on their site.... www.empireonline.com/awards2008/winners/contribution.aspJust noticed.. on the after award video interview, Shane is talking about eating Paddy's household out of hotdogs and beans.... then Paddy is brought in on the interview and Shane mentions that he is talking about 'the hotdogs'. Paddy seems to have another hotdog related story spring to mind as he says something about ".. oh the vegetarian scam." Ha ha ha.... sounds like an interesting tale needs telling! ;D

It's a disgrace, I've just sent this letter to Empire - had to get it off my chest.
''Dear Empire,
I woke up the Monday following the Empire awards very keen and excited to see who had won what award and I was impressed with who got what. Particularly Shane Meadows winning outstanding contribution to British film - the man has done more for our film industry in recent years than alot of his contemporaries.
But, that night as a tuned in to ITV2 to catch the coverage I was not only disappointed, but incredibly annoyed that Shane's moving speech wasn't included for broadcast. I know Shane and the This is England crew were heart broken that it wasn't included - it makes a joke of the award he won really, doesn't it?
It can hardly be viewed as an 'Outstanding' contribution if it isn't deemed suitable for anyone other than those who were at the ceremony to witness. Shane's speech was incredibly heart felt (and I know I can read it online...but its not at all the same).
Shane's speech got cut, and the man he dedicated the award to goes unacknowledged by the press. Why do we need celebrity banter and lame jokes between awards when valuable content like this has to be sacrificed?
It says alot about our nations attitude towards the cinema.''

I like Empire Salv, a bit Hollywood centric but I like it.
I hear on the grape vine that it was ITV who chose to edit it out. Apparently Empire fought to have it included to no avail.

I've never liked Empire. I thought HOTDOG was smart as but obviously not every else did as they pulled it.
