In response to Jo - Why the bad birthday? Hope every thing's ok?
In response to everyone else - I used to religiously buy Empire (back in the day) but I got fed up with their worsening reviews and the amount of pages they tend to donate to absolute drivel. My pet peeve with Empire is not only that they're reviews have become lazier and lazier over the years, but their lack of authority over their own work. Why change their ratings when a film comes out on DVD? ... Or even worse, why do they feel they need to review the same film two months running to cater for the audiences divided opinions? I appreciate that no one could agree with everything a critic/magazine says, but why don't they have the courage to defend their case?
It's no great loss to stop buying the magazine as the up to date news is also on their site, and during office hours its updated regularly than IMDB. (Wow...I sound like a looser!)

Glad everything is OK now Jo, that sounds like a reasonable way to be feeling when you're alone on your birthday - still I hope you had a chance to celebrate properly when you got home!
I really hope the letter gets printed (or read!) they must get 1000's at Empire ... might have to think of an alternate delivery method...
...does anyone still use telegrams?
