Le Donk & Scor-Zay-Zee on the big screen

saw it yesterday, loved it!!!

I don't think I've ever seen a film with so much warmth, I loved the part were Shane was laughing so much he couldn't hold his camera, Paddy was hilarious as expected as was Scorz who played the straight man to a T, I imagine he's never been on camera before and you really got the impression he was just being himself, Donk calling him a womble/ big lump etc. etc. was one of the highlights for me.

The opening title sequence was fantastic too!! I did wonder if it was getting so much attention because of the forum connection and the story behind it but I think if I didn't know anything about it, it would have stood out to me as a fantastic opening sequence, it was amazing how well it fit with the whole character of the film and Scor-zay-zee's track, can't wait to watch it again on DVD, congratulations again Chromebaby!

The only thing I wasn't really sure about was starting the film with them walking on stage, maybe this was necessary to grab and keep the audiences interest, but I would have preferred it if it'd have started with Shane knocking on the door.

I'd love to see more filmmakers give this a go, I might try it myself, looked like an amazing experience!!

I couldn't believe how well the Z1 performed! I need to get one of those shoulder support things Shane was wearing!

now I just cant wait for the DVD

Blimey that was quite a ride! My head's still spinning. My feet don't be touching the ground.

It was great to meet Gareth (Morell^TM), who runs Paddy's website, and his missus, and also Richard Knight (RichK) too who's been Shane's location manager.

Loads of highlights for me but one of the best was meeting Edgar Wright. I got to thank him in person for SPACED and got to tell him how much it means to me. I nearly blubbed. He liked my animation too! Another treat was seeing that Edgar and Shane look like buddies! My two favourite living film directors in the same room as me! Amazing and special.

Another highlight was walking along the streets with, get this, Edgar Wright, Sally Hawkins, Gareth (Morell^TM), Gareth's Missus, Shane Meadows, Olivia Colman, Kevin Eldon, Paddy Considine and Mark Herbert all walking in front of me and Paul (Thribb)! What an incredible view! 'Mazin'!

I got to say hello to Olivia Colman who was very friendly. She complimented me on my animation too!

I took a few pics of course but my photography skill has deserted me it seems so most of what I took was shit. There were a few gooduns though.

Scorz was spittin' some sick raps here. (Yeah, I know the lingo...) The guy's amazing. It's great to hear outright funny raps too.

I also, finally, got my DMS DVD cover signed! ;D I took it to Edinburgh. I took it to Nottingham. But madam fortune was against me. This time I had to be a bit bolder. It was probably going to be the last chance I was going to get to get it signed by so many of the people who worked on the film who were gathered together in the same room as me!

I started things off with Richard Knight. We were just chatting so I whipped it out. SIGNED! Then Mark Herbert got too close so I reeled him in. SIGNED! Shane Meadows then approached holding a shot glass, a steaming beef curry Pot Noddle and a bottle of beer. A strategy that failed to deter me. SIGNED! I then had to hunt down Dean Rodgers. I did so mercilessly. He was actually working. Doing some filming. I cared not. I waited until he lowered his camera. SIGNED!

The only one who wasn't there was Paddy Considine. Paul (Thribb), bless him, asked Le Donk if he could do Paddy's signature. He could! And he begrugdingly agreed to comply. Although he looked like he wanted to drop me! . SIGNED! ;D

You're quite right Mr Edwards, seeing two of your favourite directors having a natter is enough to warm the cockles.

However, Mr Edwards, I think you may have been amongst more top notch actor types than you realised! Unless I'm very much mistaken, that looks like Alice Lowe in the picture of Shane and Edgar. I mostly know of her work in Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. Maybe it's not her though.

Dean Rogers is never off the cams! Perhaps it was more footage for the proposed deluxe edition DVD that was hinted at a while ago.

Oh yeah.... crikey O'blimey! Who wouldn't want a print of those massive Le Donk and Scorz caricatures!?

I made the mistake of confusing Paddy and Le Donk. Well labelled pics there, they really are two very different people.

That wig is a very dark piece of the jigsaw.

Total gatecrasher me, didn't even realise the event was on until texting with Dean, who's fabulous "Death Crash" photo exhibition is on at the Wapping Project (google it for info). Completely missed the film.. hope to catch it soon though.

Great to meet Bill finally, and Thribb and Gareth again. Another high point of the eve was meeting Liam Bailey.. the guy who posted here a few months ago with the fantastic new music.

Honestly, you really ought to give it a try.

Wow you've got good eyes there, Dave. I didn't recognise Alice Lowe at all and I love Darkplace! So add Alice Lowe to the list of peeps that were walking in front of us! I have to credit Gareth and his missus for pointing out Sally Hawkins too.

This could possibly be one of the greatest things to happen to Leicester in years (not counting the football team). No longer will I have to drive all the way to Nottingham to watch a decent film, I can just wander down the road. Behold.

I also didnt give much credit to the new Curve Theatre. Although I ended up going twice in a week, to see All my Sons (f*cking amazing, best 'film' ive seen in ages), and The Fastest Clock in the Universe (brilliant) with Jamie Winstone.
