you know 'Les Battersby' Bruce Jones. The 'orrible wife beater' in 24/7 Bumped into him after Stockport's emphatic victory today. The last time I saw him he was storming out the ground after Stockport dicked Man city, he supports the bitter blues! Then was not a good time to speak to him, tonight however was. He was in the last pub we visited and as I approached him he sort of sighed expecting me to ask him about Les Battersby and promptly spoke first saying 'Les Battersby is hung up at Granada ........ he's not me.' He was somewhat taken a-back when I said I loved him in Raining Stones and 24-7 and after that was happy to chat for about 10 minutes and even pose for a few pics. Fair play some 'actors' can be right dicks. He said he loved Raining Stones and even pipped some big actor who I've already forgotten to an award way back when. He also said 24-7 was the hardest film he's ever done. He said each day he sat in a cafe on his own feeling horrible because of his role and found it really difficult. Plus the scene he did when Bob Hoskins kicked fuck out of him was very hard to do, but said it was a great experience. I told him I thought he was horrible in it (like my father) but brilliant too which he was quite happy about. I said he certainly made an impression in it and should ditch corrie and get back into films.............something he's told to do all the time.

Have just seen 24/7 for the first time, thought it was really good and Bruce Jones was great in it. Had all the typical Meadows genius to it comedy humour and harsh emotion. Frank Harper was great too.

I'm off to Conwy in Wales for a few days this weekend. There's a good chance I'll get to meet Bruce Jones as he's a regular in my brother in laws pub. I want him to sign my 24/7 dvd sleeve.

I was thinking about Bruce's performance in 24/7 the other day and how well he did in it.....'And you can shove that tea up your ass!'
Anyway, what with the whole Corrie situation and him falling on hard times i was wondering if he'd be interested in doing a short, just to show what he can do....I wouldn't mind getting him in something once my current projects finished.

Sacked over booze problems. Shame; I loved him and Chesney together in Corrie.
Yes, he was brutal in 24/7. First time I saw it, I thought, 'Oh my God, what's wrong with Les Battersby?'
