Saw it! Sad how Olivia can beat Oscar winners on one night and not even be deemed good enough to be in their company for the BAFTA's [or Oscars for that matter]. The ES Award was her 6th for the role so at least it's not been overlooked. Just doing a quick drop in to let yer's all know that Tyrannosaur came out on DVD and BluRay yesterday so if you didn't get to see it on the big screen, go and grab a copy. Whilst I have you. I'm running a really quick competition at Paddyconsidine.co.uk (news page) for people to win a Paddy Signed Tyrannosaur DVD and Quad poster. Closes on Friday (10th) so get your skates on if you fancy it. Hope your all doing well!

Just read through this thread for the first time! This is because I fully embarrassed myself and failed to see the film until today on a spanking nice Blu-ray! Like many other comments I've seen in this thread, after the first viewing you're kind of left pretty overwhelmed and lost for a way to articulate what you think of it. Pretty bloody awesome. I expected greatness, but still it managed to exceed what I thought was coming. Olivia Colman's performance conveys so much more than is seen! I do need to see it again, but it's hard to get in the mental space to get through it again I bet.

A US DVD release for Tyrannosaur won't be too far behind -- according to Amazon.com, it's due out April 10. www.amazon.com/Tyrannosaur-Peter-Mullan/dp/B0069UV0LS And you won't believe this, but it finally came to Omaha's Dundee Theater this past weekend -- alas, the weather was very bad (lots of ice and snow) and I couldn't make the trip. The film got a nice review in the local paper, though: www.omaha.com/article/20120203/GO/702039981/1194#a-raw-and-raging-tyrannosaur

I'm really looking forward to the commentary with Paddy and producer Diarmid Scrimshaw... I briefly met him when I visited the This Is England shoot where he was.... errrr... well IMDb says he was Script Supervisor. I thought he was on the producing team.
I've got into a habit of ripping the commentaries from DVDs and Blu-rays and listening to them during my hours of commuting. Once you have seen the film, I have found that the visuals are very rarely a necessity when listening to the commentary.... plus you can hear the film in the background so you know what point they are talking about! It's great listening, and you can get on with other stuff while you are enlightened! ;D

Drive is superb! I had to wait until DVD which took forever. I tried to get Tyrannosaur yesterday but the shops didn't have it. So Amazon it will have to be.

the commentaries great so far - Paddy giving insight into what his direction was for some of Olivia's scenes, The commentary is great stuff! Really interesting to hear how Paddy is frustrated by many of the restrictive practices of film-making. Didn't realise Paddy had a cameo either until I heard the commentary... a non-visual cameo!
