I have the documentary 'Dark Days' to watch over the weekend, anyone seen it? I don't know what to expect of it. Very intersesting doc, amazing that the guy with the dogs has such a passion for life. Well worth watching ;-)

I think I hate Nick Love.... Only seen football factory to be fair but when an advertising campaign for "the business" states that "MORE DRUGS THEN SCAREFACE", "MORE SWEARING THEN GOODFELLAS", "MORE VIOLENCE THEN (insert generic gangster film here"
Kind of puts me off.

Si That's exactly how I feel... although I'm sure that the film-makers aren't entirely to blame for such quotes being used. Having said that though, I have heard bits of Nick Love and Danny Dyer on their commentaries, and I'm pretty sure they would whole heartedly endorse such promotion. I suspect they may be disappointed that they can't put the C or F word on promotional material if anything.

I agree. I saw Football Factory, I just didn't get what he was trying to say with it.

Well worth watching ;-) Absolutely wonderful film. There was more humour, drama, tragedy and hope than 99% of fictional films that I've seen. The DJ Shadow soundtrack is great too. I'd recommend it to absolutely anyone.

I think Love is an auteur - love him or hate him, he's still a technically accomplished filmmaker. I happen to like all three of his films as they're immensley entertaining and free of pretention.
It's so easy for people to write of Love's films but at the end of the day, they do what they say on the tin. Goodbye Charlie Bright is definitely Love's best film but The Business is the most fun if you're a child of the 80s.

Once Upon A Time In Mexico was a real let-down after El Mariachi and Desperado but by Robert Rodriguez's own admission, the film started shooting without a finished script and the whole project served as little more than for him to experiment with shooting on digital, so that he could move onto the Spy Kids films. Narc is a great film, isn't it? A real throw back to the tough cop films of the seventies, such as French Connection and Serpico. It's a shame that the director hasn't managed to get his long cherished Pablo Escobar project off the ground. He's definitely an up and coming talent. I've still not gotten around to seeing Good Night & Good Luck, yet, Clooney's first foray into feature filmmaking, Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind was very good.

Good Night is certainly worth seeing, was a little let down, but for some reason I had very high expecations, it looks incredible, Strathairn is impeccable and it has live jazz, game on

Being There - Peter Sellers last film (i think) very good, Sellers underplays a very naive simple character which could have so easily been a caricature. Shame Sellers Pink Panther has been re made (to disastrous effect) you really can't beat the real thing.
