I wouldn't draw such a clear distinction between tribalism and universal appreciation among footie fans. Clifton is in deep denial about the superb-if bygone- achievements of the Trickies, which explains the depths of his hate. How else would it be possible for him to constantly dish out harsh judgments about Cloughie's drink driving offence and-presumably-continue to cheer Lee Hughes? You'll never hear a Red raging against County against all reason. That might change, of course, if and when we have some reason to be jealous of the sad sacks.

Jill did you not hear the sick chants those beloved red fans were singing about Lee Hughes in the recent Carling Cup game. Hopefully we'll miss you in the division cross over this season......Now that would be nice.
By the way Lee did go to prison he's served his sentence and is now having a second chance.
Clough on the other hand was only fined when found slumped in his car pissed up on the A52 No prison for the rich and famous well not if your bum chums with the local police) Seems like the rules are not for all just the few. Remember when Clough was drunk and assaulted that Forest fan by punching him in the face. ( Live on TV Funny how the police never pressed charges)
And of course the old brown paper bag bung at Toddington service station the Police and FA dropped there investigation when it was found that Clough had a serious illness. (Didn't know if you were ill your crimes were overlooked.........One rule for the rich)
Still they gave him a Statue in Nottingham (Why not in Hartlepool his home town or Derby the City where he lived?)........ Where is Peter Taylors statue? Then crazy as it may sound the very road Clough was caught drink driving on The A52 has now been re-named after him. "The Brian Clough Way" You couldn't make it up that's how mad the whole thing is.
You just remember those good times and air-brush the facts away.
Jill two questions for you "Honest answers please" 1. Do you think that Nottingham should have a statue in our City Centre of a convicted drink driver born in Hartlepool? 2. Do you think that we should be naming a road after a convicted drink driver?

On a lighter note last night i had a drink or two with Robbo (John Robertson) i asked him if there was any truth if him and O'neil could go back into managment at Forest he said Martin and himself are now looking to get back into football but have not been in contact or heard anything from Forest. My cousin is married to an Ex Forest player this is how i got to know Robbo i've known him for years.

Oh right, I remember, Hughes got caught after killing somebody and driving away. Clough is dead. His alcoholism killed him-is that punishment enough for you? I remember the punching incident very well and I also remember the 'victims' on the TV the very next day saying that they had no intention of bringing charges-I distinctly remember one saying he 'loved Cloughie.' You're ranting about corruption in the game after the shananigans at your place? Ha-brilliant. Yes, Taylor deserves to be recognised, as indeed he is at the City Ground. Btw, Taylor did have something of a reputation for liking a bung, so at least be consistent. 1) Yes. He was born in Middlesborough btw. And what's that got to do with it? 2) Yes. Probably the only occasion EVER when Forest and D*rby fans will unanimously agree about anything. Though, I think there should be a mini-statue of Cloughie playing the Banjo-Deliverance style-westbound on the approach to Spondon. Clifton, do you think the nation should have honoured Churchill with statues? Cloughie was contrite about a lot of things towards the end of his life and he did a lot of good-supporting the miners when the Labour Party etc were ducking for cover, a founder of the Anti-Nazi League at a time when the game was riddled with racism, charity walks etc. And he really was the greatest football manager England never had. I would guess that pretty much everybody who reads this thread, agrees with my last statement, except you.

That bloke "Cloughie" sounds like a decent bloke. Jill let me let you into a well known secret.......Are you listening? The fan you saw on TV two days after the Assault Clough had commited was none other than Trent End Thug Jimmy ? a local Clifton lad who i know very well the interview he did to camera behind the main stand at Forest ground was very convincing. The only thing wrong with that interview was it was not Jimmy who had been Assaulted he was never on the pitch to be assaulted he was in fact at home watching the game on TV. Jimmy put on a good show during that interview fooling most by saying his name was Dennis Trent...........Den Trent = Trent End. Nice on Jimmy your five minutes of fame gives you legendary status around Clifton Estate. Also on that very same interview Clough's Bum Chum Local Labour Alan Simpson was also bigging up how wonderful Clough was the interview ended with Clough Kissing Jimmy/Dennis. All great TV..............You can fool some of the people all of the time ;D Nice lad is Jimmy and as honest as the days long. I'd love to get Jimmy to come onto these boards and tell you his side of the story but i don't mix with him any more as he is known to get involved in the odd dodgy deal or two. (A serious bad man) I'd forgot Clough was born in Middlesborough a statue there would be well deserved i'd be happy to see that happen. Come on Jill what ever honour you might want to award Clough naming the very road he was found drunk on has got to be the worse decision ever made. If you check the records i think you'll find that Local Labour MP Alan Simpson said he would not be supporting any plans to name any road after Clough......18 month later Simpson (Cloughs Bum Chum and political puppet) was part of the crazy gang that came up with the plan for......Wait for it. "The Brian Clough Way" You couldn't make it up could you?

At last! Thank you. I would have thought you'd be keen on Simpson, what with your scouse fettish and North Korean connections....oh wait, he's a Toffee isn't he? Good story. Maybe Notts should pay Jimmy/Den a retainer-be handy to have somebody around who knows a con artist when he meets one

Gateshead have got their act together against Telford and Newcastle sneak a win. If Martinez actually loaded the box up for once, they might've done us.
