Jill, i heard a horrible rumour that Forest fans boo'd all the way through the 11 minute Gary Speed tribute the other night. Now, i hate dirty Leeds more than anyone, but this sounds a bit off? Is there a back story i dont know about, or is typical depressing football politics.? Hoping you can shed light on this for me....

I'm not sure Michael-wasn't there-but from what I can gather, Forest fans joined in with the one minute of applause prior to kick-off and that was pretty much unanimously respected. The booing-as I understand it-was directed at the Forest team, who by all accounts gave their worst performance of the season. Never good to see or hear about, but the feeling was that they were not trying. Add to that, there is no love lost between Forest and Leeds, so that would increase the sense of frustration, I suppose. Not 100% sure, but I think maybe it coincided with the 11 minutes of Leeds fans chanting-their goal came at the end of the 11 minutes- but wasn't actually a reaction to their chanting or anything to do with Speed.

By the way Lee [Hughes] did go to prison he's served his sentence and is now having a second chance. This is going back a bit, I know. Not been on here often lately. But Lee Hughes. Speaking as an Oldham fan, I feel as if I can comment on this chap. Did a great job (on the pitch) for us, when he wasn't injured of course. But what an odious man. Horrible to the extreme. Upon his arrival, to mixed thoughts from Latics fans it has to be said, the rhetoric from Mr Hughes was something along the lines of doing plenty of work in the community, raising the awareness of how drink driving destroys lives, talks at schools that kind of thing. Well, in his 2 years at Oldham none of these things materialised. The landlords of Saddleworth were pleased with him though, given he kept their tills ringing throughout the week. I met him on a couple of occasions, and can't help thinking what a numb fucker he is. Pretty much an arrogent cock who has absolutely no remorse for his crime. Yep, served the time given, but it never changes what he did. I thought when meeting him he'd be quite humble but he's more the opposite. Frankly, I'm more than glad he's somewhere else, never felt truly comfortable about him being at the club. Shefki Kuqi on the other hand...

Dear fucking God, man. Clifton, you have spent years raging on about Clough despite his stupendous footballing record (the thing were supposed to be discussin) purely on his drink driving record. I always thought you had a general issue with this on a personal level, but no, it turns out its okay to drink, drive & god knows what as long as he plays for your team. Or as long as Cloughie apologised, you should have no issue with him. Unless Lee Hughes footballing record is comparable to Cloughs. I would have to check the stats, obviously. I do hope his agent forcing him to do charity work has redeemed his soul in some way.

Gateshead and Darlington meet on New Years Day for what could, but possibly won't, be the last time. I'd hate to be a Darlo fan knowing they've still got the burden of Reynolds sinking a tonne into a stupid stadium. Meanwhile, Newcastle are setting themselves up for a quiet window. Maiga's failed his medical so he won't be joining us from Sochaux. We've apparently taken on a 24 year old from the Rymans league on trial as a plan B. This is also the week where I finally discovered I do have a mackem accent. 20 years on Wearside will do that to you.

you avoided that with some skill. ive just watched Man City. Like Chelsea, only worse. Everything thats wrong in modern football in a single team. Perfect. Diving when youre losing is bad enough, but diving when youre 2-0 up, then your manager demanding a sending off? Now THATS class.
