aye, is probably his best after trainspotting. See, the things I liked about Trainspotting are still there.. but then there's a whole lot more... I'd love to see it made into a film by like Terry Gilliam or Darren Aronofsky. Cant choose between it and Trainspotting although probably the latter. I started Acid House (seeing as its short stories) and I'm enjoying that aswell. Think I'll start The Rules of Attraction later on today though. Probably read both. and yeah cheers JT I couldnt for the life of me remember that guy when I was in waterstones. I was dissapointed with waterstones though they didnt have any Hubert Selby Jr books. Bastards.

That's the first thing I thought when I finished reading it too - in the right hands it'd make a brilliant film. One of the most darkly devastating morality tales I've ever read... unfortunately, I haven't got even a crumb of the talent necessary to come up with a faithful celluloid translation. I know it's been made into a play, though, along with Filth (that should probably go next on your Irvine Welsh hitlist, Hyde). As for Hubert Selby Jr, if you can track him down in a bookshop then I'd recommend starting with The Demon. By the way, did you spot Begbie's little cameo in Marabou Stork Nightmares?

Currently reading Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons". So far I have been really enjoying it all the twists, Illuminati and conspiracy theories. Some of whats in there actual makes some sense.

my 3 year old writes better prose than Dan Brown, he is fucking awful. possibly the worst published writer EVER. And yes, i know hes popular, but that means nothing. Not a personal dig Dazza, i just hate that fucker.

Yeah I definately agree if I was a film maker I'd make it. I was thinking about reading ecstacy next seeing as so far I've read them in order. Can never find any Selby in any book shop I look in will keep trying though. and yeah I did haha.

Can never find any Selby in any book shop I look in will keep trying though. Hyde, as luck would have it I've got two copies of The Demon - one standard paperback, one hardback first edition (books are my vinyl!). If you like I can bung the paperback one in the post to you. You can buy me a pint when you turn legal That's probably the dodgiest thing I've ever written on the interweb... I'm currently reading Ghostwritten by David Mitchell (not to be confused with the ugliest man in comedy since David Schneider). I'm only a few pages but it's a fucking cracker. Definitely worth a gander if you're eager to rinse those WH Smug vouchers your aunty got you for Crimbo ;D

Marching Powder by Thomas McFadden, got caught smuggling in Bolivia and does time in the craziest prison in the world. Also just finished Captive State by George Monbiot, well worth a read to see just how fucked up britain is.

Mate that would be mental you have no idea how much I appreciate that. Do you own Requiem on dvd? No worries, fella. If you PM your address to me I'll huzz it in the bubblewrap express. A mate of mine's got it at the minute but he only lives down the road so it shouldn't take too long to reach you. Yeah, I've got Requiem on DVD. Quality film. You seen this? Selby co-wrote the screenplay, one of the last things he did before he slipped off the dish. RIP Cubby Funnily enough, Amazon recommend Dead Man's Shoes as an accompaniment to that film!
