The Town -
Could be accused of being really false and trying to be so masculine its a cringe, but I enjoyed my trip to the cinema. Decent watch, could have easily been called 'GTA - The Movie' though. In 'Good Will Hunting' Ben And Matt wrote themselves their own destinies by playing parts they had constructed - The Guy with the bad upbringing but the potential to be something better than that, ooo heartfeltttt. Yeah Well although Ben directed this as apposed to wrote it, I can't help but think he was trying to do the same thing. He may have even been succesful to an extent, the film seems fairly well received. A very good 6.5/10

Mr. Nice -
*Minor spoilers* Reminded me a lot of 'Blow', which I quite liked. This was good I thought, a nice enjoyable cinema trip. Didn't dwell too much on him feeling sorry for himself in those low moments, but still prefer Johnny in Blow where he does do that.. Could be blamed for being occasionally repetative, but from a personal perspective I was cool with that. A fairly well told story, with a likable lead, that makes for good watching. Very Pro Marijuana.

Sweet Sixteen - Wicked man. Great Loach. Have actually been to Greenock a few times, and have to say the film isn't really that reflective of the set-up there as it is a lot more civilised than the film makes out. But never the less, the intention and point is there, and the film is very strong because of that. Not really any moments of falseness despite the film taking such a watered-down Scarface synopsis. Martin Compston welcome to the world- smashed it.
A Prophet - Well made production of a typical prison gangster story. The difference being the masterclass film making allowed you to feel more involved and respectful of it. I also thought a lot of the specific moments in the narrative were very demanding of the actors in such a testosterone-fuelled set-up, and they all performed fabulously. Clever writing at times for (like I say) your typical Prison story.

Seen the first 3 now. RECOMMENDED.
The money poored into this is clear, and a worthy investment. Theres been no decent tele of late (IMO) so to be able to see this on the Internet is great.
There is a lot going on.. and that detail is being captured really well.. I have to say I'm really liking it so far.. I care enough for each of the individuals, and am really looking forward to it all kicking off. HBO know that 'depth' was the key to The Soprano's and The Wire, and hopefully this is going that way. We'll see.

You've quoted me word for word pal. I saw it over a week ago now, and I'm still not really any better. DMT.
I already know this is the most important film I've ever seen, but the question I keep asking myself is 'Is this the best film I've ever seen?' - Because no film has ever done that to me before..

Still cant quite wrap my head around this... Sven, Leicester, Sven... Leicester? Heres my take on it.. Wooohaahah. Davros mate Sven is a decent manager and although he wasn't supposed to be Notts County's manager our promotion last season owed a lot to Sven he's well respected by all at Meadow Lane. You'll change your tune if these rumours are true! He's gonna raid your dressing room pal.. you can kiss the likes of Ben Davies and Lee Hughes goodbye.. But hey, at least you'll finally have a chance to finish a game with 11 men! You guys are just bringing a 'dirty' reputation to this city..

haha, alright guys. Jeez, I was quite pissled when I wrote that last night, Called you all out by name like Brad Pitt does to Eric Bana in Troy.. 'Hectooorrrr!!'
Even still, what I said was true. haha.
Comp, you'll be v. pleased to know its not in subtitles! Surprised me to. (And seriously, I can't actually put it into words how much of a 'go to the cinema' film this is. You'll only fully understand what I mean once you've experienced it. Pal, this film is worth cheating on the missus for.. sneak out the house for 3 hours, tell her you've gotta go into work.. haha..

The asda stores in Arnold, Hyson Green & Bridgeford had all sold out. The Tesco in Carlton had sold out. HMV and Game charge an extra tenner at least than the others.. Sainsburys had 3 left, and me and the guy behind me snapped them up.
Fifa 11, I finally got you.

Guys.. Dave, Comp, Jill, Ryd.. everyother film lover that visits..
Why on Earth have you not seen 'Enter The Void' Yet?
I'm not saying its the best film you'll ever see, I'm saying its the most important! There is honestly no fucking point in you ever going to the cinema again (except for work Dave, ok) if you don't go and see this..

Yes, this ... and Little White Lies declaring "Is Enter the Void the ultimate trip? One could argue Gaspar Noé doesn’t make films at all: he makes endurance tests. Yet the feeling this is a landmark moment in cinema is hard to shake." Understatment. easily an understatement. They say it took him 8 years to make. I said to my friend after "Only 8??"

Enter The Void -
I really didn't think I was going to attempt to articulate what I've watched tonight so soon, but I have to at least write something, as I'm not sure if I'll ever feel like this again IN MY LIFE.
What I don't know, is how you attempt to analyse even a fraction of a fraction of it, as there really isn't a part in it not worth giving a mention to. The Opening titles - I could write you a 1000 page essay on (thats not sarcasim).
My best attempt at a summary is this; "Take how you felt at the end of 'Inception', multiply that with 'Fear and Loathing', and then multiply again by about, say, what, a thousand billion?.. Hows that feel, coz your not even close."
When I came out the screen, I kept hearing people laughing and looking at me and stuff, all of them knowing what I'd watched. I was completely and utterly speechless.. The guy behind the counter just said "I'm seeing it tomorrow".
With 'Inception', when I left the cinema that time I was blown away sure, but could at least tell you why and give you a fairly decent guess as to how they made it..
with this.. I don't think I'll ever know. -------------------------------------------------------------- If your in Nott'm, Make it a priority to see this at the Broadway before it finishes on the 7th.

'City Of God' is the easy winner for me.
Special mentions left, right and centre I guess.. 'The Lives of others' I watched just last week.

I have deleted my original post that read 'That is fucking ridiculous'.
Strongly disagree, An interesting debate all the same.
A piece of art, is what it is. You watch an ensemble piece that has been put together accordingly.
-Without wanting to flap around being generic, from a personal perspective, If I were to take all of my favourite films.. Is it just me that feels like they want them to NEVER END..? There is something nice about the tidyness of a piece yes, and its ability to remain precise from start to finish without dwelling, but again thats more circumstancial.. as is this entire argument. So I shall say it again, A piece of art, is what it is.

TOUGH. Paddy Considine single-handedly could contest this for me. He is unquestionably a huge inspiration to myself and my profession.
1) Richard - (DMS) - words arn't really neccasary. Just feelings.
2) Woody - (TIE) - There is barely a difference between Woody the character and Joe Gilgun the Actor. I have nothing but many fond memories of such a hilarious and loveable guy.
3) Le Donk. - (LD&S & Le Donk the original short) - 'Don't tell mommy I rode the Babysitter' still pulled out at parties. Off-the-cuff humour, original, for a character with a huge mass-appeal.
*Special mentions to Anthony (DMS), Morell (ARFRB), and Kezz? (Can I do that?)
