Oh, cocks in heaven. I Like Trains released a Christmas EP without telling me. Now it's seemingly sold out.
Humbug.

The Smashing Pumpkins album, Machina- The Machines of God cropped up on my random play the other day. Great album. It also reminded me that there was an internet only double-album follow-up called Machina II - Friends and Enemies of Modern Music. The band released it for free on their website. 22 tracks! I used to have a copy, but have no idea where it went. But after the reminder, I had a quick search and found it available on a fan site! Hoorah for that! www.thepumpkins.net/content/view/37/47/I thought someone might want to know.... Hyde especially (if he doesn't have it already... which seems unlikely).

Excellent album, there's LOADS more to download that never got released, ever heard AEROPLANE FLIGHS HIGH? they play all this unreleased stuff like they have 100's of amazing songs. Used to be all I listen to, dont listen much though... quite sad really. I think I may be in for another bout of Pumpkins addiction. All their music is suddenly striking a chord with me again. I've always liked them alot, but the addiction phase comes and goes! haha Anyway, yes, I have the Aeroplane Flies High because it was a B-Side on one of the two 33 singles. I have all the Pumpkins singles from Gish through to the first MACHINA single Stand Inside Your Love, at which point I stopped getting them. Just digging through my Pumpkins singles again now to rip the B-sides to MP3 and realised I had forgotten the Zero EP! The Zero EP is one of the best. Has 5 brilliant B-sides, followed by the epic Pastichio Medley. You heard that one? Basically it is a 22 minute track made up of clips of 72 unreleased songs and ideas which were written during the writing of Melon Collie. I forgot how prolific Corgan is! Stunning part about it is, there is barely a duff sounding clip in the whole thing. Makes you mad that you can't hear them all properly! Also just found the The End Is The Beginning Is The End single they did, as featured in Batman and Robin! haha.

Agree'd, Corgan is a genious, great live band too, so one of those perfect bands really.. have heard a huge bulk and recognise the songs youre reffering to, and agree, excellent. Billy Corgan writes WAAAAY too many songs, they're all good but he needs to calm down, on the new dvd he just wakes up in his hotel room and writes a song, then plays it the same night at a gig! crazy. There was a new EP American Gothic, very acoustic and I didnt really like it (after the heavyness of Zeitgeist I wanted more of the same) but you should maybe check it out (should be cheap) and reccomend the DVD, documentary and full gig, including GOSSOMER one of the most epic songs ever writted... IMO. Ever see them live? proud to say I saw em on there first reunion show in london! then again at the 02 arena which was... different. They ballsed it up by playing to so many people, being so far away liek ants and playing songs nobody had heard... still... thats why I love em I guess. I listened to this band at the same time, both all I listened to, saw them last year (december) and it blew me away, amazing, bet you'd like them too! they opened with this, my present to you, enjoy! uk.youtube.com/watch?v=A48LhIeZCmY

I think I will finally get hold of that new DVD next week.
Only heard the sample clips n Amazon of that American Gothic EP. All acoustic stuff is it? Sounds pretty good, but I would prefer some rock to punctuate proceedings!
I have seen them live once.... a long, long time ago. I wonder how old you were when I saw them at Reading '95! Ha ha. Good grief that's a depressing thought how long ago that was. It was just before they released Melon Collie... and they played loads of new stuff I had never heard before.
That new G.L.O.W. track is pretty good (I bought if for Guitar Hero ;D ), but I prefer the B-side that it comes with if you purchase the single on Amazon or iTunes.. called SuperChrist. It really sounds like old Gish/Siamese Dream era Pumpkins.
I don't think I have heard Gossamer, so that's a scandal that I will have to fix!

The soundtrack to the film Velvet Goldmine. A nearly seamless set of 1970s classics (like Lou Reed's "Satellite Of Love" and Roxy Music's "Virginia Plain"), glam covers (such as Placebo's faithful take on T. Rex's "20th Century Boy"), and glam-style numbers that were newly written for the 1998 film (including Shudder To Think's "Ballad of Maxwell Demon," Pulp's "We Are the Boys," and Grant Lee Buffalo's "The Whole Shebang"). Plus, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Ewan McGregor do some fine singing on here too -- McGregor on the Stooges' "TV Eye," and Meyers on Brian Eno's "Baby's On Fire" and Steve Harley's "Tumbling Down." Just a fun collection of tunes all around! ;D

I just got the new Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band CD, Working on a Dream. Mostly pretty lightweight stuff (the title cut, "My Lucky Day," "Queen of the Supermarket," etc.), but there are some nice tunes here. The epic "Outlaw Pete" is probably my favorite; I also loved "The Last Carnival" (a moving tribute to the late Danny Federici) and "The Wrestler" (included as a bonus track).

I think I'm going to pick up Working on a Dream from work tomorrow. Heard a few songs on BBC Radio 2 last week, he was doing an on song writing programme. Really good to listen to. If you want to listen to the programme you can do here: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/radio/bbc_radio_two

Oh... didn't realise it was out?!
I'll get hold of it sooner or later probably. I've only just bought myself a couple of CD's. Also got Thrice's live at the House Of Blues CD/DVD as a late b day present the other day. Gonna watch it tonight... expecting great things!!!
I've been listening to Paramore's "Riot". First album I've heard by them... loved the track "Misery Business" which is on Guitar Hero... so had to buy the album! It's really good! Need to get into it some more. They also covered "One Armed Scissor" one year at reading (sadly I missed it!) but they deserve respect for that!
Technicl prog metal ay Dave? I'll check it out.. sounds interesting.
