Recently I've been listening to White Lies, Airbourne Toxic Event, and Globus. For anyone who likes Battlestar Galactica (and even if you don't), check out the following video on youtube. It's a homemade trailer for the show by a very talented editor and it uses an awesome track by Globus.

I've been going into Neil Young overload for the past month or so since his announcement for Primavera which I'm going to.
In the past I'd always kinda dismissed him and not been overstruck by him. But then by giving him the time of day, and getting straight to the root of his best stuff, it's like all the great music that I've loved over the past 20 years, like Nirvana, Mercury Rev, The Flaming Lips, Arcade Fire, Low, Smog... too many than I care to mention really... all of them wouldn't have done anything if it wasn't for Neil Young. It's all made sense, and like to quoth Samuel L Jackson who in turned quothed what a drunk would refer to as "a moment of clarity".
His best stuff for me is with Crazy Horse backing him, although Harvest is just supreme. But songwise, I've hardly had these off my car stereo all month...
Cowgirl In The Sand (A massive favourite. Think I had this single song on rotation for about 2 hours the other day) Cinnamon Girl Needle And The Damage Done Heart of Gold Only Love Can Break Your Heart Don't Let It bring You Down Train Of Love Like A Hurricane My My Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue) Hey Hey My My (Into The Black) Pocahontas Walk On
... I could just go on and on... It's like I'm in love all over again.

I'm currently giving Lily Allen's It's Not Me, It's You a spin. Some seriously catchy tunes here (and a lot less reliant on samples than Alright, Still was).

Shameless plug alert! It is good though, check it out. The Prodigy's new album. Pretty good, starts well and gets kinda worse till the last track which is actually very good. Certainly much better than their last album. Looking forward to seeing them at Reading Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Coool stuff.

They are probably very old news to all you hip cats, but I've just got into the Silversun Pickups.
Rocky, pop... with more than a hint of the Sonic Youths about them. Catchy rockings!
and/or
Also been discovering Marmaduke Duke, which features the lead singer/guitarist of Biffy Clyro... so inevitably the songs have a touch of the Biffys! Which is good. Sometimes rock, sometimes pop, sometimes odd.

The Horrors - Primary Colours. Like most people i was ready to dismiss this new album as more self indulgent over hyped crap however it is very good and gets better with every listen. The influences couldn't be more obvious MBV, Jesus Mary Chain, Cure, Joy Division but this is not a bad thing.
The start of a shoegazing revival? I hope so.
