Just got into a new band called The Second Hand Marching Band. Kind of a Caledonian indie supergroup made up from bands like Dananananackroyd and the Just Joans among others. Sound? Somewhere between The Polyphonic Spree and Beirut; that lovely Ramblas buskers collective noise thing. Click on the link, they have about 6 songs to download free at Lastfm. I recommend "A Dance To Half Death" the most. Gorgeous.

I'm finding new stuff thick and fast. Lately, Withered Hand, a singer songwriter from Edinurgh is doing it for me, and more! Sounds like "On The Beach" era Neil Young, with a twist of Flaming Lips/Mercury Rev-ness going on. It's beautiful, fragile and crushingly catchy. Love him. EDIT: You can catch the album streaming online at the SL Records website. Give it a whirl.

just one track 'Host of the Seraphim' by Dead can't dance, can't stop listening to it. It was used for the final scene in 'The Mist' wonderfully powerful piece of music.

I have a lot of stuff by Lisa Gerrard who was in Dead Can't Dance. She does the vocal on 'Now We Are Free' at the end of Gladiator. Great piece of music.

Alexisonfire - Old Crows/Young Cardinals - Good. Pretty much the same sort of thing as "Crisis" only... not as good. Some great tracks, and riffs. But nothing new or innovative. Bored of it pretty quickly. Still looking forward to seeing them live again at Reading.
Florence and the Machine - Awesome. Great voice, epic tunes, good variety. Looking forward to this a lot at Reading.

3 recently bought. DJ Shadow - The Private Press Public Enemy - Greatest Hits Twilight Sad - Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters All pretty top notch but DJ Shadow's effort is so good from a 'I've heard this from an advert/programme perspective'. As I'm shifting out tomorrow, here's some shifty-related songs... Bon VoyageTa'raFarewellGet oot!

Woohoo!!! Between the Buried and Me have released a 4 minute teaser of their forthcoming album, The Great Misdirect which is released in October. The teaser is a sequence of little snippets from different songs, not one long individual section. Their previous album Colors (American spelling of course) is one of my favourite albums of all time. Epic in every sense! The Great Misdirect looks to be carrying on in the same vein, and just from this teaser, I feel we could have a Colors beater on our hands... nobody thought it was possible! haha. PROG METAL AND SHOUTING ALERT!! (audio teaser) Epic! And I don't use the word lightly. Consider that all of those clips of different sections and styles feature on an album which only has six tracks on it! Sounds like about 20 different ones... but that's the Between the Buried and Me boys for you! I've already told Vin about this, so I don't actually think anyone else here is interested! haha Oh well.

Sounds good Dave.. nice and varied. I'll check out Colors (stupid spelling) on Spotify.
Oh.. I've been listening to Grammatics after their awesome live show at Reading.
