Sounds good Dave.. nice and varied. I'll check out Colors (stupid spelling) on Spotify. Oh.. I've been listening to Grammatics after their awesome live show at Reading. Honestly Ryd, Colors is super advanced Between the Buried and Me! haha. I really don't think it's a good starting point to get into them. I'm a big fan of them, but it took me ages to fully take in that Colors album. Vin (Deadmansrockports) is a big fan too, and has had the Colors album since it was released (well over a year ago)... and he's only cracked the first three tracks!... out of 8! I think one thing that is throwing Vin is the fact that two of the tracks near the end of the album sound like an ending near the beginning! haha... so when listening to a few tracks in a row, you feel really unsure where you are. Colors is really one long composition divided into tracks.... so Spotify does a good job of ruining the flow between tracks with its advertisements. Seeing them live really made the density and intricacy of Colors click for me. But then you do like The Mars Volta which do similarly epic tracks full of ideas, so that's a good starting point. There's not many albums that I can say I have genuinely felt lost in! It took some hard graft to take it all in, the rewards are huge! haha I recommend the album Alaska as an entry point to BTBAM. This was the album before Colors and is NOTone long composition... it's most definitely separate tracks, so easier to digest. The Grammatics sound quite jolly. I like the jerky riff, but do they have cello on all songs. That could get a bit tiresome.

I think i'd need to own it rather than Spotify it though for that. I've only been lost in an album a couple of times De-Loused and Francis. But this sounds easier to get lost in. I'll try Alaska first. Grammatics do have Cello on most songs... not all I don't think. I don't find it too intrusive though. Infact I love a bit of Cello. The girl who plays it sometimes does backing vocals too which is cool. See "Relentless Fours" Grammatics – Relentless Fours: Awesome ending.

Conditions by The Temper Trap. It's really growing on me, even if, at times the singer sounds like he's got his nads caught too tightly in a vice.

Sounds good Dave... like Suicide Silence meets In Flames. I've been listening a lot to the best two artists in the world at the moment, 'Wisp' and 'Deadmau5'. 'The Shimmering Hour' by Wisp is a masterpiece... everyone who reads this post has got to check it! Also check my music @ www.myspace.com/aktracksCheers x x

In my opinion, they've got worse and worse since then... though I do think 'Tetragrammaton' is their best song(one of my top 3 tracks of all time)!

Disagree! Both Francis and Bedlam are better. Octahedron (the latest) is amazing too. Amputecture I'll admit isn't brilliant. You heard Bedlam or Octahedron? They're both the tits! Each to their own though. I'm about to book tickets for their live show in December. Seen them 3 times now... awesome every time.

Yeah, FTM has got some gems: 'Cygnus', 'The Widow', 'L'Via L'Viaquez', 'Miranda' and 'Cassandra'(basically the first five!)but there's too many pretentious drawn out proggy passages. Amputechture's got four good tracks: 'Tetragrammaton', 'Viscera Eyes', 'Asilos Magdalena' and 'Meccamputechture'(though 'Vicarious Atonement' and 'Day of the Baphomets' ain't bad). As far as I'm concerned TMV lost it after Theodore left; they dissapeared up there own arses; forgot how to write a catchy melody and as for Pridgeon... well I think he's one of the most overrated drummers in the world(along with Travis Barker); he overplays and it sometimes seems like he's playing too fast for himself to handle whereas Theodore's bombastic style was so unique and original(something that's incredibly hard for a drummer playing a real kit to be now)and his beats always fitted to the songs. In my opinion, 'Since We've been Wrong' and 'Screaming Babies Inside Out'(immense track but it's technically ORL not TMV; 'Coma Pony' ain't bad either)are the only catchy songs they've done since Amputechture but as you said, each to their own... www.myspace.com/aktracks

I'm really loving Florence and the Machine just now, the album's great! I also got Bat for Lashes' Two Suns, which is really good, and Little Boots' Hands, which is a good pop album.
I'm also loving Friendly Fires' new song, but if anyone saw my previous posts about them it's really not a surprise!!

I love Simon and Garfunkel. I'm always listening to their first album, Wednesday Morning, 3 am. Top stuff!
