Ooohh I like Yo La Tengo, didn't know they had a new album out.
I got The Sweet Billy Pilgrim album (the one that was nominated for the Mercury Prize) and it's tuneful and beautiful.

FINALLY!!! The new Muse album hit shelves today. I've been listening to it non-stop all day. It's bloody awesome. Album of the year for me!

Going for a bit of John Martyn today, I saw this performance on 'Scotland's Music with Phil Cunningham' last night, it's just so tear-jerking to see and hear this much emotion from a singer:
I'm a big fan of his 'Solid Air' album too, May You Never is a brilliant song!

Bryan, what's the new Muse like? Not too much like Queen is it? More rocky tracks?
Been listening to Porcupine Tree. Errrm, not bad. The music is epic and very good. The lyrics however are awful. Ignore the lyrics and its actually rather good. Very long songs, which I like.
Still waiting for my Thrice - Beggars to arrive... can't wait!

I think my 'album of the year' comment pretty much sums it up. There is one track on there that really does sound like Queen called United States of Eurasia. I think this is done on purpose and is intentionally funny because of how overblown it is. But that's what I love about the band. The rest of the tracks are a bit more rock, except for the last three tracks, which are awesome too. They make up one long piece in three parts. Kinda like a mini opera or whatever you would call it. Brilliant stuff!

That new Muse single sounds like a cross between Blondie - 'Call Me' and Marilyn Manson - 'The Beautiful People'.

I'm enjoying Teenage Bottlerocket's - They Came From the Shadows, which is simple and unpretentious melodic Ramonesy pop-punk.
Also Sweet Billy Pilgrim's 'Twice Born Men', which is lovely.
And a lot of Simon and Garfunkel.
EDIT: I forgot the new Wilco album too, which is great.

I just bought the Stone Roses self-titled first album on CD. For the past month or so on Playlist.com, the whole thing has been available in free streaming-audio, which is how I discovered it. I love it -- just a great batch of tunes!
