Cool stuff! I reckon my girlfriend might like some of this stuff... wont tell her about the Rolo link.. she doesn't really like the band! So i've been listening to another band, who I saw the very same night I saw Rolo Tomassi (nice link); Pulled Apart By Horses. They're very good indeed. Fast catchy short tunes. It's a little samey, but definitely a great listen. The songs have infected my brain already! Only one album it seems, at least that's all that's on Spotify.

No i am listening
You know you love me, I know you care Just shout whenever, and I'll be there You are my love, you are my heart And we will never, ever, ever be apart
Are we an item? Girl, quit playin' "We're just friends," what are you sayin'? Said "there's another," and looked right in my eyes My first love broke my heart for the first time
And I was like baby, baby, baby, oh Like baby, baby, baby, no Like baby, baby, baby, oh I thought you'd always be mine, mine
Baby, baby, baby, oh Like baby, baby, baby, no Like baby, baby, baby, oh I thought you'd always be mine, mine
For you, I would have done whatever And I just can't believe we're here together And I wanna play it cool, but I'm losin' you I'll buy you anything, I'll buy you any ring
And I'm in pieces, baby fix me And just shake me 'til you wake me from this bad dream I'm goin' down, down, down, down And I just can't believe my first love won't be around
And I'm like baby, baby, baby, oh Like baby, baby, baby, no Like baby, baby, baby, oh I thought you'd always be mine, mine
Baby, baby, baby, oh Like baby, baby, baby, no Like baby, baby, baby, oh I thought you'd always be mine, mine
When I was 13, I had my first love There was nobody that compared to my baby And nobody came between us who could ever come above She had me going crazy, oh I was starstruck She woke me up daily, don't need no Starbucks
She made my heart pound I skip a beat when I see her in the street And at school on the playground But I really wanna see her on a weekend She know she got me dazin' 'cause she was so amazin' And now my heart is breakin' but I just keep on sayin'
Baby, baby, baby, oh Like baby, baby, baby, no Like baby, baby, baby, oh I thought you'd always be mine, mine
Baby, baby, baby, oh Like baby, baby, baby, no Like baby, baby, baby, oh I thought you'd always be mine, mine
I'm all gone (Yeah, yeah, yeah) (Yeah, yeah, yeah) Now I'm all gone (Yeah, yeah, yeah) (Yeah, yeah, yeah) Now I'm all gone (Yeah, yeah, yeah) (Yeah, yeah, yeah) Now I'm all gone, gone, gone, gone I'm gone

Some mysteries are best left unsolved.
2011's shaping up to be a canny year. British Sea Power's Valhalla Dancehall wound up being quite alreet, despite a rather iffy lead single. The Go! Team's new'n is due out at the end of this month with Mogwai's Hardcore will Never Die but You Will due out a couple of weeks later.

I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the new Between the Buried and Me EP. I want an album!! But at least there's something coming. I just can't wait to start learning all the intricacies and time-signature changes. Love it!

A new discovery in the land of tech/prog/metal!
Animals As Leaders It's an instrumental band, so all the fun of the tech-metal without any of the gnashing and wailing vocals that most people can't abide (I can though ;D ).
Only one album released so far and it is kind of a solo project for utter guitar genius Tosin Abasi. He recorded the guitar and bass for the album and the drums are programmed. However, as a live unit there are musicians filling the roles now (and they are playing on the forthcoming second album).
After hearing them I did a bit of research and realised I heard Tosin playing in a previous band called Reflux. He's developed his unique talent and playing styles a lot since that band. He wields an eight string guitar and he's dapper as all hell! haha
Take a look.... here he is playing an unreleased Animals As Leaders track... mesmerising!

NOt only am I quoting myself, I'm replying to myself too! ;D Between the Buried and Me have released a cheeky little teaser for their new release... it's an EP, or is it an LP.... well it's 30 minutes long apparently, so take your pick. You couldn't imagine a more prog style name than this! The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues Woah! Trippy man, etc. A small dog teases us with snippets: I am also now officially addicted to Tosin Abasi and his project/band Animals as Leaders:

Old Skool. Been working tonight (still am ). Tonight I've been mainly listening to Roxy Music: Easy to forget how good they were. Bryan Ferry is poorly, apparently. Hope he gets better...even if he is a Tory.

Something slightly pissed me off before. There's a charity album out to help those in Japan. Thoughtful gesture but it's slightly marred by the fact no-les-than-£5 (nice choice of phrasing) of it goes towards those affected. As an act of charity, the whole shebang should go towards those in need.

I once got roped into the organisation of an event on debt and development. It was a reasonably big deal, so I thought I'd investigate the possibility of getting St. Bob to come. I fell at the first stumbling block; a £120 fee to contact his agent (his agent, not him). These 'administration costs' sure do eat into good causes.
