Shane, hi. I hope you will allow me a moment to introduce myself. My name is Adrian Baldwin, a full time writer. I have previously had work broadcast on television but last year I switched to writing original film screenplays and recently completed my first, The Geisha and the Samurai – which I would describe as an extremely quirky, dark comedy which plays around with the audience's perceptions and emotions. I have already been contacted by Adam Partridge of the Film Agency For Wales who is really excited by the completed script and keen to provide funding for the project. I am a huge fan of your work and directing style and when your name was one of only a few suggested by the Film Agency, I decided I would do my very best to somehow try and make contact with you. The humour of the script is drawn from the various rather unusual characters and their interactions but there are also some deeply moving moments. There are several unexpected twists which I believe will make the viewer want to watch the film again to make sure I didn't "cheat" (which I didn't). The story moves along at an exciting pace and could definitely be described as thought provoking. I also believe the script has a very distinctive style or “voice” and contains some unique and highly memorable scenes. The film is set in Manchester and Wales. As far as I know, you haven’t done a full black comedy before but there was definitely some dark humour in Romeo Brass and some quirky stuff in Dead Man’s Shoes so I’m hoping that this quirky, dark comedy could be an interesting project for you. I know that you are currently work shopping for your next film and asking your fans what they would most like you to direct next, so if I could interest you in reading this script, I would be extremely happy. I know this is a long shot but what’s a guy to do? Would it be okay to send you a copy of the screenplay to see what you think? I hope its okay to ask. You can contact me directly at leonblank@hotmail.co.uk if you feel so moved. Cheers, Adrian PS I hope all the Shane Meadows fans here will forgive my direct appeal to Shane. I’m a big fan too! Thank you

Whatever you decide to do Shane, i hope you manage to squeeze a soap star in there as they've all come up trumps so far!
Sam Dingle, Eli Dingle and Les Battersby...classic characters! 'And you can shove that tea up your arse!
Sweet Maria sounds like the most Meadows of ideas....maybe get Jimmy Corkhill in as a building site foreman?

I think that the Gypsy film would be excellent. I think that as well as being entertaining it might provide some insights on a community/culture I suspect many of us (certainly me personally) know little about. Shane is the right man to make this film because he will make it honestly and with characters who have some depth. It will no doubt be a million miles away from films like Snatch etc (no offence to Guy Ritchie or the actors in that film).

Absolutely love all of your work Shane, and I know it's early days but I'm desperate to find out about your next production! I'm a graduate of the University of Leeds and have just moved back to Nottingham. I've done a good six months of running, half of that in drama and it would be a dream to work on a Shane Meadow's feature, you are a God in these parts! All i need is a line producer to beg and harass....!!!
