Aye up when is the deadline for this gonna be then, personally I reckon after summer to give us film makers some good decent weather to make a short film in, also are we having a maximum length of film? Keep us posted and I'll be entering. :-)

Basically, it's an idea Shane had. A short film competition for people to enter (no previous experience necessary!). With Shane being so busy of late, there are no definitive details yet. Hmmm... can we allow proper actors to enter the competition though?!  |

The shorts have gotta be made especially for the competition... The same recycled (and usually funded) stuff seems to win all the competitions nowadays.
It's just not fair on the youth.

Hey everyone, Happy Easter!... I know im back tracking a little, but the 'CILLIT BANG' ad has always cracked me up! I remember seeing it for the first time eva.... I cried laughin for about an hour! I saw Shane and Lou shortly after and Shouted 'Cillit Bang' really loud, they both cracked up! So i knew i hadn't gone completely mad! Who creates the ideas for adverts??? who are they kidding? They treat the general public like idiots putting those kind of ad's on!! Actors get paid thousands too.... ! Its tough because you never know how an ad will turn out so best not go for them in the first place..they are evil! Unless of course yr in one of the Meadoz ad's then yr pretty safe man!
'Hi im Barry Scott and THIS is CILLIT BANG! Spray it on yr teeth watch them fall out! On yr neighbours small dog and watch it disintergrate! ..... wykd stuff!' No wonder we are all ill, wats in that stuff???
It is a spoof but it totally looks like he just can't act! Funny sheeeat dude.
The short film idea is wykd, look forward to seeing them all!

Some cool adverts to have featured in.... Guiness Renault Clio Stella Artois Ford Puma (steve Mcqueen) Bacardi Levi's (running through walls and the chinese one) - infact all of them! Mercedes (benicio del torro) Football ads (Nike / addidas??) Baily's Christmans ad wats yr favourite?  ??..... |

I'm in.....thats if Shane and Dave are still persuing this idea.
Im very under-nourished in the field of film-making, but I could work around this obstacle.
P.s. I'd happily make a snuff movie depiciting the death of Barry Scrot-rot, from Cillit Bang fame.

I think we should go down the Finance advert/Cillit Bang/Claims Direct route for the competition theme. Hopefully then, budget would not be an issue and it would be fun for me to judge! I would pick the top 3 or 5 or whatever and we could post them on the site for all to see.
It would be a great alternative to the normal short film fare and a nice way for film virgins to cut their teeth without getting too bogged down in technical bullcrap. A nice level playing field for all and a dream judging job for me. Prizes to be confirmed, but awards might be nice, maybe in the darts trophy mold for added class.

Right then... seems I almost at a stage to officially launch something. Just need a maximum length for people to make their films fall within. 5 minutes? 3 minutes?
The theme then will be 'info-mercials'.... basically an advertisment that is flogging a product or service by using reconstructions or demonstrations. As Shane says, stuff like Insurance ads, and Cillit Bang.
The theme will of course be more like 'Spoof info-mercials'.
Any ideas for rules, post them on here.

there should be like a deadline to get your films in by.. basically get them all uploaded to google video perhaps? or we could send them to you on DVD or VHS? and then you judge.. and put the winners up on the site! hmm i'll get thinking about rules
