a great show all round i thought and a good thing to get people to know a little bit more info bout shanes other films. Top class.

awesome. cheers buddy. anywhere i can get hold of these? i guess probably Amazon is the best place to look? Already found DMS on there. Midlands has also been deleted I think... make sure you get the two disc though matey dont wanna miss out on the extras...

The Shane Meadows 'vodcast' has now been recognised by my podcast management software (it's called Juice and it's ace... no iTunes muck here ;D ).
So, it must be on the Southbank show site for download too I guess.

i've only just discovered shane's work as i've been a bit out the loop, film wise. having seen the publicity for "this is england" on the culture show, i watched "dead man's shoes", and immediately it became one of my favourite films of all time. i believe that shane is not only up there with ken loach and mike leigh, but also directors of the calibre of kieslowski, mallick and scorcese.
as regards the south bank show, the section shot in the taxi, of tom turgoose filming shane, had me in tears, because what shone through was the kind of mentoring that shane missed out on himself as a young lad. i thought conducting part of the interview in one of the locations worked really well, too.
