Wouldn't normally draw attention to a bad review, but as it's from the IMDB and obviously written by someone that's clueless, I thought you'd all laugh as much as I have: www.imdb.com/title/tt0480025/usercomments?filter=hateI was expecting a British equivalent of American History X but the story was awful the characters 1 dimensional the script not thought through at all. If your going to do improvising you should do lots of workshops with the cast beforehand.
I can't believe that this was based on Shane Meadows life in any way at all. It just wasn't realistic. It seemed to me that it was made not with an insiders perspective but how he perceived it to be. It probably would have been better if he'd just done a little research and a few interviews.
This could have been a really good film. But I found it to be patronising. The NF in the 70's and 80's hijacked the Union Jack not the George Cross. The only reason for using the latter I can see is to make out that all the English people flying the flag round world cup time were racist idiots.
This should have been Crash meets American History X in England. But its just weak.
The sets were well dressed and the costumes looked good. Thomas Turgoose was good as Shaun and so was Stephen Graham as Combo. apart from that it was rubbish in my opinion. The writer reaches the nadir of stupidity when he mentions Haggis’ CRASH – obviously a benchmark of cinematic brilliance that all films should be compared! ;D

The IMDB is a magnet for twats isn't it. Absolutely. The message boards are the worst, but extremely funny. Think of any well-known actor. Now check out the messageboard and you’re sure to find these threads: Is he/she gay? Does he/she smoke? What film does he/she get naked in? Almost any film with only a slightly political undertone will result in extensive fighting on the message board. EMPIRE magazine’s online forums are almost as bad, too. You get some really egotistical, over-opinionated wankers on there. So glad Dave’s site’s not like that – there’s some real bad blood on the IMDB and EMPIRE. Almost anyone that’s made a success of their life becomes the subject of venomous rants – they really get personal about actors and directors, in particular. Sad no-lifers, I reckon - completely consumed by bitterness.

Yeah i find forums like this really odd... well i say that as if they're the minority but they're everywhere really, its just arguments, and "flaming" and all this bollocks. No-ones allowed to have an opinion.
That review is funny though "This should have been Crash meets American History X in England" idiot.

I find myself getting more and more angry with half the idiots that post on IMDB. Don’t get angry, Miss Donk – be safe in the knowledge that you are a human being ;D There's another user comment on IMDB that's headline reads: Bit to right on for me. I could have done a much better endingI literally spat my drink across my keyboard when I read that. This is the typical bollocks I'm talking about. People that think they can do better but in reality, can't even formulate a proper sentence... ;D

I've just looked at some of the IMDB comments too - how quickly do they slide to personal back-biting on there? It cuts both ways though, if someone posts "I didn't like this film" and then the next post is "..then you are a moron" - that's poor. Everyone is entitled to their opinion after all, and the film really doesn't need defending from individual negative opinions. Even if someone posted on the imdb saying "the locations in particular were awful," it so wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Maybe if 100 people said the same thing I'd be a bit more concerned.. !

*EDIT* - ok looking back, the one Comp has flagged up is really quite funny..
OK here's a new game for us, see which one of us can get the most inaccurate negative post onto IMDB and see what the reactions from the real fans are.
Example:
Lord of the Rings "I thought the attempt by Jackson to use Frodo to echo Paddington's journey from Peru and subsequent abandonment didn't really play - and I was expecting a more overt reference to sandwiches:marmelade. Also, the fight sequences weren't very realistic"
Oh I'm so going to post that soon!

Is it not then?
Also, every film that you love with all your heart like it was your own child has the thread: 'Worst film I've ever seen'.

Oh that is class! Yes, the "totally missing the point" prize is currently his. It's like saying "Titanic - you got all the facts wrong Cameron because the ship sank in the end, didn't you know that or wot? you don't know nuffink"

Why is it that people who post on message boards in capital letters invariably talk utter shit....? Is there a medical reason for this.....?
