WARNING! This is an experiment, it may not work or it may end up crap, so if you're not up for that then this isn't for you.

THE IDEA: To create a DVD commentary made by fans. This will take the form of an MP3 file which you will be able to download. It will be then up to you to watch the This Is England DVD and listen to the MP3 file simultaneously, thus giving the effect of a DVD commentary!
HOW IT WILL BE MADE: I have divided the running time of the This Is England DVD into 5 minute segments. Each segment will be claimed by any of you lot who want to be involved. You may want to claim a particular part of the film, or you may not be bothered which bit you end up with.
When you have claimed your 5 minute segment of the film (and I have given you the all clear), it will be up to you to record yourself talking as you watch your chosen five minute section of the film.
Each person will then send their 5 minute recording to me, and when I have received them all I will compile them into one long audio file which I will make available for download!
ADVICE: So what will you talk about during your five minute section? Here are some ideas:
1) Start your five minute section by introducing yourself using your forum name.
2) Talk about what is happening in the film during your five minute section. Bit obvious that one, but I don't want to make it compulsory for the whole five minutes.
3) Talk about how you first became a fan of Shane's films, or about finding this website.
4) Perhaps you have anecdotes relating to This Is England... like the time you went to see it at the London Film Fest, or something like that.
5) Don't litter your commentary with pointless swearing!
6) Talk about yourself or anything else if you want to... just as long as this doesn't take up the majority of the 5 minutes!
PREPARATION ADVICE: I recommend that you watch your allotted 5 minute section a few times before you record and think about what you are going to say. Perhaps even makes notes to read so you won't end up sitting in silence or umming and ahhing. I know I will be writing myself a script! ;D
Another good reason for watching your 5 minute segment a few times prior to recording your commentary is the following....
COPYRIGHT WARNING: When you record your 5 minute commentary, the DVD must NOT be audible. Play it silently. Basically we don't want to cause any copyright woes! FACT will be all over us.
If you have prepared in the manner I described above, this shouldn't be a problem.... and don't forget you can have the subtitles on to remind you of what is being said.
So there we are... a bit complicated and convoluted, but I think it is worth giving it a go. We need 19 people altogether to get involved.
I have listed the 5 minute segments below by listing the DVD time code for the beginning of each segment, and have assigned each of these a letter.
To claim a segment, simply post a reply in this thread saying which letter you want. First come, first served!
As I catch up with the letters that have been claimed I will add the names to the list below.
By the way, section S also includes the first 30 odd seconds of the end credits. An opportunity for someone to close proceedings with a fond farewell!
Section A begins after all the company logos. The time-code resets just before Roland Rat appears, so the 00:00:00 start time is from that point.
