Well i feel like I haven't really given any decent updates for about 8 years! We had our first baby in September and normal service (sleepies) is finally resuming, meaning Shaney can get back to work and more importantly, get back on the site a bit more.
Well even though most of the last three months has been spent exclusively with my Lad, I have managed to keep a few things trickling along, so there are a few little nuggets I can impart.
Firstly, I am sorry that the Le Donk Screening hasn't happened as yet. What with Legal Wranglings on Gypsies, the sudden need to get This is England Series together and wanting to be at home with my son, so he doesn't think I'm a burglar when I walk in the front room, has meant the Donk screening went to the most very'ist back of my mind. That said however, Things are now moving along nicely and we are finally getting an idea of what will become of it.
First off, It looks like it could be launched on Film4, which means everyone can see it for free! We will also do a select few cinema days up and down the country that will aim to inspire other filmmakers to make their own 5 day feature. There will be a private screening for a good number of Members from here and Paddy's site, before anyone else in the world sees it and it will finally get released on DVD/Blueray with loads and loads of deleted scenes, unseen shorts etc, so anyone that likes it enough can own it.
The edit is finished now and I have done some basic grading and sound work. I should imagine I will have a finished master sometime in Feb, so don't be afraid to pester me for a date in a few weeks time as it will remind me to remind mark to sort it.
Next. This is England the Series is underway to some degree. The way TV works is kinda different to Film so we won't know for sure if it green lit until C4 read our first draft of the first episode on the 29th of Jan. All being well, we get the other five scripts commissioned at that meeting or pretty soon after and myself and Jack Thorn (My Co-Writer) will write the other 5 ep's with an aim to shoot them later in the year. I will probably direct the first and last ep's and will assign other exiting directors to do the other 4 so I can make another feature later in the year.
As it's too painful to talk about, I will keep it brief, but KOTG won't happen this year, but is sorted for us to get it going in 2010 so I have found something else which I think will fill the gap nicely! Can't give to much away at the mo, but safe to say, It's not even remotely like anything else I've done to date.
Love
Shandy.
